GIHMCT: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

The Government Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Nagpur, is synonymous with hospitality academics. GIHMCT was established in 1994 and is one of the oldest institutes in the field of hospitality in Nagpur. The Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, Mumbai, has recognized GIHMCT, Nagpur. Over two and a half decades old, it is also approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The institute is spread over a compact 1-acre campus, housing 174 students in a cozy learning environment. 

The faculty-to-student ratio at GIHMCT is one to thirty, thereby ensuring individual attention and effective education. The single specialized program is the Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology, offered by the institute. GIHMCT has a range of ultra-modern facilities for developing the overall learning skills of its students: well-equipped training kitchens, bakery and confectionery laboratories, housekeeping laboratories, and front office laboratories, all of which are simulations of actual hospitality scenarios. The library turns out to be a valuable knowledge source, as per its stocking manner of stock of wide ranges of books, journals, other digital material that would help students in their academic usages. Besides these, modernly equipped classrooms with audio and video aids add to the process of learning, and the computer lab with high-speed internet keeps the student updated with the hurry of the digital world. 

A highlight of GIHMCT is the training restaurant, which allows students to gather practical knowledge in an exact life situation. Other facilities provided to the students are a cafeteria, an auditorium, guest rooms, and medical facilities, which make the environment more comfortable. One hundred and fifty students are taken who are approved from three basic backgrounds in the delivery of Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Technology; it is a three-year full-time course. It aims at gaining a broad perspective over the hospitality industry, including food production, food and beverage service, front office operations, and housekeeping. The institution maintains its focus on this specialized one program, yet looks to add values and enrich students with a working knowledge in-depth and hands-on experience in all aspects of hotel management and catering technology. 

The admission process at GIHMCT is according to the rules set by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra. Applicants must fulfill the minimum eligibility as specified by the institute.
