The Government Institute of Leather and Footwear Technology, Jalandhar (GILFT) is an oldest institute which comes into existence in the year 1934, to provide education in the field of leather and footwear technology. These specialised are intended to pro-actively provide students with necessary depth knowledge and skills required within leather and footwear industry in order to secure successful employment in the specialised fields.
Admission policies are the same for all the institutes under GILFT and the admission procedure involves online centralised admission by merit through Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training. Candidates willing to enrol in any programme are required to undertake central counselling exercise. And in those courses and branches where there are still open seats even after the central counselling session is over, the institute’s principal is empowered to admit students on merit basis.
