Government Law College, Thrissur is one a premier law colleges, which is situated in Ayyanthole in Thrissur District of Kerala and was founded in 1992. Established in the year of 1980 this affiliated college is nestled in Thrissur, Kerala and is nurturing legal education system for more than two decades. Affiliated with the Bar Council of India (BCI), GLC Thrissur has a number of courses in the legal field for students who want to become legal professionals. With a faculty of 19 well qualified teachers the college provides students quality education and a personal touch. GLC Thrissur today stands as one of the prominent institutions in the region that vowed with its mission in legal education to produce par excellence legal professionals.
The Government Law College is proud to provide the following facilities to enable students to enrich their learning exercises. The main stock of these establishments is the large library with documented productions exceeding 37,182 in number and referring to different fields of general and specialised education. The library has access to the most popular Indian and international journals, law reports such as Supreme Court Cases, All India Reporter and Kerala Law Times. There are many sports-enthusiasts and for the ones who like to play: cricket nets, carrom facilities and even a shuttle-badminton court at college. Modern Information Technology supplement and recreational facilities are available including telephone, computerised internet and wi-fi campus. An auditorium is a hall designed for use in events that are educational, cultural or both such as seminars.
GLCThrissur continued the same by offering three full time law programmes at its official website that revealed that its Law courses are appropriate for three progressive stages of legal education. The college offers total 190 seats: 120 in the 3-Year LLB course, 60 in the 5-Year integrated BBA LLB (Hons) course and 10 in the 2-Year LLM course. These courses are structured to facilitate a systematic knowledge of law and the skills to be acquired for mastery of right jobs in the legal profession. The intake capacity ratified for all programmes combined is 190 students to ensure that the college practices high ratios of student to faculty for sufficient learning.
The entry into the Government Law College is by means of admission tests. Regarding the LLB programme, there is an Entrance Test conducted by the Entrance Commissioner, Government of Kerala. The same applies to LLM programme, there is provision of selecting the candidates through an Entrance Test also arranged by the same body. KLEE is also considered by the college for its various law courses and programmes for admission. By so doing, only the most deserving candidates are only given the opportunity to be admitted to the college. As for the information of the specific scholarships are unclear but as the college is under the government, the college must have different ways to assist deserving students financially. The college has a good means of communicating with all its alumni offering necessary support in linking the current students with well-established legal practitioners to improve the learning process and prospects of the learners.
