Government Law College strives to be a premier institution in legal education and research located in Coimbatore founded in 1979. Established in 1962 as an affiliated college situated in the progressive city of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu this college has been producing legal brains from several generations. GLC Coimbatore offers four full-time courses, Three-year dual degree LLB, Five-Year integrated BA LLB, Two-year LLM course with specialisation in Business law and Taxation laws respectively. These programmes are meant to ensure that the students acquire more legal education in order to enable them practice law successfully. As for the course offerings of the college they are designed to maintain the quality of education with a focus on how the theoretical knowledge will be applied in the courtroom.

For all the programmes in Government Law College, Coimbatore the admission is affirmative through counselling and based on merit. Students seeking admission to three-year LLB programme are selected on academic performance while counselling session being conducted for the applicants. Same pattern is followed in the five-year integrated course of BA LLB and here also the admission criteria comprises academic results. For postgraduate studies, LLM programmes in Business Law and Taxation Laws take two years and also incorporates merit based system together with counselling to characterise candidates for their respective fields of speciality.
