Government Law College, Theni was set up in the year of 2019 with the mission to encourage legal education in Tamil Nadu, India. This is a government college established in Thappukundu, Theni district which currently has emerged as a popular college for legal education. Perhaps because the college is relatively young, it is already making efforts to ensure the students receive a good education in law.

The Government Law College offers two primary law programmes: Here are few such courses namely a three-year LLB course and a five-year integrated BA LLB course. The two programmes are full time programmes and have been approved to admit 80 students each for each programme in order to maintain small classes that enhance effective learning in the institution. An important fact about the college is its student strength of 155 and faculty strength of 4 so that there is a reasonable student-teacher ratio so as to have more interaction and direct interaction.

Government Law College, Theni have several amenities that can facilitate the learning process of its student. The college library offers students the required variety of legal titles, periodical, and reference information. Self-produced mooting competition is also possible with a Moot Court facility this is beneficial for the student especially for aspiring lawyers as it gives them a real experience on how the Courtroom works and the expertise on presenting legal matters. The college also understands on health needs and offers sporting facilities to enable students keep fit as they study. Likewise, a health centre of a school that has first aid amenities guarantees that students’ medical concerns get solution as early as possible.

The college offers two distinct law degrees: two programmes namely the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and the integrated Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (BA LLB). The LLB programme takes three years, intends for graduates with records in any field interested in practising law. The Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Laws is an integrated five year programme in which aspiring lawyers are exposed to liberal arts before venturing into legal education. Both courses have an intake of 80 students for the 80 available seat and, 160 students for the 160 available seats in two programmes.
