Government Medical College and Hospital, Sundargarh (GMCH Sundargarh) are fairly recent additions having being established in the year 2022. This affiliated college is situated in Sundargarh, Odisha, and is recognised by NMC that makes it follow national standards of teaching medical education. Located on the vast 21 acre land, GMCH Sundargarh aim at rendering quality medical education and treatment to the populace.

The Government Medical College and Hospital has various more facilities that are of present day standard in advanced medical training. As an embodiment of it owns a well-stocked Central Library in its academic infrastructure that caters the Information needs of students and faculty members. The library has several sets of national and international journals, course books and references in its collection. It also has the e-Library with seating capacity of 25 computers which have high speed internet connection/internet browsing facilities. This training building is able to supply a relatively comfortable air-conditioned modern building suitable for library purposes.

GMCH Sundargarh currently offers one primary course: MBBS or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree programme. This is a full time course and takes six years with an approved annual student capacity of one hundred students. The MBBS programme is aimed at developing proficient medical professionals and passing out result oriented professional medical personell in large numbers. Entry to the five and half year MBBS programme is done through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) result to filter quality student from across the country.

The admission process at GMCH Sundargarh is mainly centralised and entrance based on the All India level competitive examination NEET. This examination is conducted at national level and every student aspiring to get admission has to clear it. It also embraces merit-based admission for all students, which means deserving candidates definitely have to be given the chance to study at this college for their medical degrees. However, the detail of the admission dates may differ annually depending on the availability but they follow the pattern relating to the NEET examination and counseling.
