Government Model Science College Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) was set up in the year 1836 and is also one of the reputed science colleges in India. This affiliated college is NAAC accredited which has a coverage area of over one hundred acres of area. At present, the college has 4,249 students and 79 members of staff; the college has 23 courses in 4 degree programmes. At the institute, different ratio of student got enrol for undergraduation were 65% is male students and 35% female and for postgraduate it is 50-50 %.

Government Model Science College offers a host of facilities that would supplement the learning process. The central library has access to more than 59,000 books, 40578 books in the book bank, 2225 reference books and 674 are rare books. Students are provided with DELNET and INFLIBNET facilities and are allowed to use reprographic and internet facility. It also has abundance of laboratories that includes Central Instrumentation Facility Laboratory with many advanced analytical tools. The topics range from nanotechnology, biomedical polymers to environmental issues and medical microbiology. At present, the college possesses 14 postgraduate computer laboratories, 20 undergraduate computer laboratories and 5 general computer laboratories containing 164 computers. They have amenities to cater to sport lovers including the badminton halls, hockey and football grounds, basketball and volley ball courts as well as a gym.

Government Model Science College provides a large number of programmes, the main concentration is put on the science streams. This institute offers twenty three full time courses out of which few are undergraduate and postgraduate classes. Some of the most preferred courses offered at undergraduate level include B.Sc in combinations like, Biology, Chemistry and Evolution or Botany, Chemistry and Zoology, BCA. Postgraduate programmes include Master of Science in Botany, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology. In addition, diploma courses in Food Processing Technology and Computing and Software Development are awarded by this college.

Government Model Science College admission procedure consists of merit based selection and as per the state government norms. For postgraduate programmes, there are conditions that the candidate must meet as follows: they must pass in the relevant bachelor’s degree and an entrance examination.
