Government Polytechnic, Athani (GPA) is an engineering college came into existence in 2009 and it is situated at Satti Road, KSSIDC Industrial, Estate, Athani Taluk, Belgaum District of Karnataka. This is an affiliated college Government owned and comes under the approval of All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) cuerpo. Currently GPA has four diploma programmes which take 359 students in various disciplines of engineering. IHS has a strong rate of faculty ratio of 19 which means a small student faculty ration is in place. As an Institute delivering technical education, GPA shall aspire to offer affordable quality engineering education for the youths within the region.

Government Polytechnic aims at creating a favourable learning environment to its students as an institute. GPA has wide range of facilities to accommodate academic and co curricular activities. College library is a place that stores books and other academic material that will help students with their work. Sophisticated laboratories are arranged department by department so that students get an actual practice by implementing what they have learnt in the class. For those who Love sports the college has provided different amenities to support the sportsmanship, discipline, and physically active. On the campus, there is a hygiene cafeteria that feeds the students as well as the staffs with provision of a place to relax and interact.

The institute offers four full time diploma courses including Computer science and civil engineering, each duration of three years. They are offered for different branches of engineering and give students numerous opportunities to follow their passions. The overall accredited intake for all these courses put together is 240 while individual course intake capacity is 60 students. This more evenly spreads the students to the different disciplines of engineering.

This college provides free and fair admission for the students in Government Polytechnic, Athani. All admissions to the diploma courses are done according to merit within the each category of the reserved students in order to provide equal education to everyone.
