About Government Polytechnic College, Ezhukone

Government Polytechnic College Ezhukone is a premier Technical Institution at Kollam, Kerala was instituted in 2004. This affiliated college, recognised by the all India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), impart education in different field of engineering. Located in a 7-acre campus, this college has a total strength of 466 students and 21 faculty members. Being a technical institute it offers three diploma courses each of which has its own area of specialisation in engineering. Based on these areas of specialized emphasis, the college is well positioned to offer engineering students in the region practical skills that are obtained from industry.

Government Polytechnic College boasts of offering certain amenities to boost the learning abilities of the students in their college. The outfitted library is a source of important knowledge possessing a vast stock of books, periodicals and newspapers. The current classification system of the library is a post-WEFTA type and it uses efficient KOHA software for management. Those persons who are the members of Health Club in the college, it has ultramodern gymnasium well equipped with different exercise machines and free weights for the fitness freaks. The students can use this facility under the supervision a trainer. Accommodations The college also has well equipped laboratories for each of the departments in order to facilitate hand on experience. Also, great importance is paid to providing students with the best IT infrastructures and sports facilities as well as students’ complete development environment.

Government Polytechnic College, Ezhukone provides three B.Tech regular Courses each consisting of three years duration. These courses accommodate different branches of engineering and the student will have a number of opportunities in the job market. For all programmes, an approval has been granted to admit a total of 180 students while each programme has the capacity to admit sixty students. This means that the student will be able to have a proper student- faculty ratio so that adequate attention is shed and understanding of the issues at hand provided. That is why the college offers practical training which helps the students to be ready for problems of the modern engineering world.

The admission policy in Government Polytechnic College Ezhukone will always ensure that the institutions operates fairly to all the parties. However, there is lack of information regarding the admission procedure but it is not usual for any polytechnic college in Kerala to admit student without taking into consideration the marks that they got in their tenth standard examination. It seems the college also adheres to the DTE admission norms for first-degree courses established in Kerala. Being an engineering institute the institution aims at educating its students in Technical courses at reasonable costs hence the reason students preferring the institute basing their career on engineering.
