Government Polytechnic College, Shopian: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Government Polytechnic College is one of the affiliated colleges of the Jammu and Kashmir State which started its functioning in 2012 at Shopian. The AICTE approved technical institute offers diploma courses in the fields of engineering. The college is located on a narrow 5 acres; at present, the total student enrollment and intake are 63, and the faculty is 5 members strong. 

Government Polytechnic College aims at making sure that the students have basic needs, in order to facilitate their learning experience in college. The library takes the function of a source of books and other materials for learning as well as research for the students. The college has upgraded tremendously in terms of information technology and has an adequate infrastructure in teaching the students the necessary technical aspect. In addition, the institution has efficient and modern departmental laboratories where learners can practice their practical lesson and apply most of the theories they are taught before graduating from the institution.

Government Polytechnic College, Shopian has three degree programmes which are diploma programmes having a tenure of three years each. The colleges course structure is also aimed to cover different branches of engineering which also provides the student body a wide variety of opportunities to follow their technical creativity. In total, all the courses has a total approved intake of 120 seats that are divided into the three programmes. The college intends the student to get jobs in the technical world after passing out of the college. The courses offered are Electronics and Communication, Computer, and Instrumentation and Control Engineering

Board of professional entrance examination of J&K (BoPEE) is the board that provides admission to students in the Government Polytechnic College, Shopian. Candidates willing to join any programme are expected to write an entrance examination conducted by BoPEE. This standardized process provides a free and merit based system of admission in all the polytechnics in the state. The college fee structure for all the diploma programmes is an annual fee of 23670/- thus making technical education affordable to aspiring students.
