Government Polytechnic for Women, Holenarsipura was recognised in the year 2019 with the mission to provide technical education to the women folk. Affliated with the Directorate of Technical Education, Bangalore, this institutional college has the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approval. The institute has six diploma programmes in different engineering disciplines for a total of 67 intakes. The college has a faculty strength of 10 members which guarantee a requisite attention to the students. The education of women in technical sciences makes the institute the only one in the region among similar establishments.

Many facilities are available at Government Polytechnic for Women to provide the best experience in learning to students. A standard library resource centre, being a research tool, plays a crucial role in academic activities and study. The students are provided with sports facilities so that the institute understands their physical development also should take place along with their academic development. In addition, there is the college’s departmental-based laboratories which offers practicals that are very important in college education especially to the technical colleges. These facilities taken as a whole provide for the provision of favourable conditions for the comprehensive development.

A total six full- time diploma courses are offered at Government Polytechnic for Women, Holenarsipura. These are programmes of study that may be offered across all branches of engineering to offer the students as many options as possible in their engineering choice. The intake capacity in the various courses is 324 however, each programme only has an intake of 54 students. This structured intake proves efficient in the use of the available resources and equally beneficial in maintaining the manageable student-teacher ratio hence a good learning environment. The courses offered are Diploma in Electrical and Electronics, Civil, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, and Commercial Practice.
