Government Polytechnic Uttarkashi was established in 1975. GP Uttarkashi is affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education, Garhwal and approved by the All India Council for iTechnical Education (AICTE). The institute offers diploma courses in five various specialisations. The GP Uttarkashi courses include a Diploma in Civil Engineering, a Diploma in Electrical Engineering, a Diploma in Electronics Engineering, a Diploma in Modern Office Management and Secretarial Practices and a Diploma in Pharmacy. 

The duration of diploma courses at GP Uttarkashi ranges from 2 to 3 years. Admission at GP Uttarkashi is based on marks obtained in JEEP and counselling sessions. Students must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria to apply for GP Uttarkashi admission.  The institute offers many facilities to students.
