Government Post Graduate College, Ranikhet, is one of the most leading and oldest institutions in Almora, Uttarakhand. The affiliated college was established in the year 1973. For nearly five decades, this very institution has served many students. The 12-acre campus of GPGC Ranikhet offers a wide variety of academic programs for as many as 2,030 enrolled students. It has a faculty of 53 members, ensuring that quality education is delivered in all its 35 courses and 8 degree programs. GPGC Ranikhet has made its mark in the fields of arts, science, and commerce, providing courses with different specializations in humanities and natural sciences.

The college remains committed to providing an all-rounded learning environment to its students. GPGC Ranikhet offers a plethora of facilities in aid of academics and extracurricular activities. The library boasts a fine stock of books covering the entire spectrum of courses, and the process of enrichment is on a continuous basis so as to ensure that the students are availing themselves of updated resources. Sports facilities on the campus are available for outdoor games like hockey, football, cricket, volleyball, and indoor games such as badminton, carom, and table tennis. The gym, IT infrastructure, laboratories for practical learning, a canteen, and healthy snacks are available on campus. There is also a multipurpose auditorium with a seating capacity of 500 students, which has arrangements for various departmental activities, seminars, and cultural programs.

The admission process to GPGC Ranikhet shall be based on merit, and the marks obtained in the qualifying examinations. Admission to the B.Ed Self Finance course is based on merit in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination, subject to the policies prescribed by the state government and university. The Institute was recognized by NCTE and thus maintains professional standards for providing teacher education.
