Government Shivalik College Naya Nangal located in Naya Nangal, Punjab was established in 1979 a multi-facilitated sophisticated educational institution. This is a co-educational institution with a large campus size of 16.5 acres having been established over 40 years ago to prepare youths for their future. The college is self financed and has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for quality education in the region. Total enrolment of the college is comprised around 1,156 and the faculty of the college is of 35 members and the college provides 8 different courses in 6 different degree programmes for various faculties of the students as per their choice and their goals and aspirations.

The college imparts six full- time undergraduate courses viz BA, B.Sc Medical, B.Sc Non-Medical, B.Com and BCA besides offering two post graduate courses namely MA Economics and MA Political Science. Moreover, they have a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA), which also prepares its student for employments since the institution values the growing technology industry. The college has a total student intake of 1,156 students which enable the establishment of good student teacher ratio aimed at quality delivery of service.
