No, work experience is not mandatory to get a seat in Great Lakes, Chennai. However, there are some colleges, Great Lakes being one of them who prefer their students to have some sort of industry exposure and hence grade those with experience a bit higher. However, if you can perform good in WAT-PI and also have a descent score then there is no way they can reject you even if you do not have experience. You just have to convince them.

According to the official information there is no management quota in Great Lakes institute of management as the seats are filled on the basis of merit only. 

IBS Hyderabad overall is a 'very good' management college as per Careers360 rating and ranking. It is ranked as AAAA. In terms of placements, on an average one can expect a package around 6-7 lacs per year, highest package last year was 47 lakh and it was an international Placement. Extra curriculum and clubs in the college are actually highlighting factors there.
