Dear candidate,

Yes, surely you can apply for the mechanical engineering but there are certain things that you should be aware of as they might help/come in the way of your career at the later stage.

1. See, If you opt for the civil branch for your engineering then there will be some advantages that you will get. i.e.

You will get direct admission in the 2nd year since you have completed your diploma.

During placements also, you will have the better edge because diploma holders are assumed to have better technical knowledge and there diploma+degree holders are given preference over candidates who have only complete their degree.

2. Now, if you want to take mechanical branch for your b.tech, then you will not be eligible for the lateral entry and then you have to appear freshly as the candidate who appears after 12th. In that case neither your diploma in civil will hold much value nor you will be able to extend your skills of your diploma in the degree course.

Hope the answer is helpful.

Good luck!

Hi,

Infrastructure

HIT campus is around 35 acres but along with the law, polytechnic and marine engineering campuses the area comes out to be 85–90 acres. The infrastructure support is great. There are separate hostels for students of a particular year. The hostels are humungous. Each hostel has a volleyball court and a badminton court inside the hostel itself. Rooms are spacious and are allotted on a triple sharing basis. There are common toilets which are cleaned everyday. On campus you will have a football field, a basketball court, a gym and a common building which has the tt tables and carrom boards. The classrooms though non air conditioned are extremely roomy. Haldia is a very windy place so ACs are not required. There are mess kitchens in every hostel which serve 4 meals a day. The food there is decent and cheap. 3 canteens, 1 restaurant, 1 barber shop 2 Xerox centers and 2 general stores have been provided on campus for the convenience of the students. Food is cheap in Haldia. Cost of living is low. At around 5000 per month you will lead a lavish lifestyle( I mean king-size) for the next 4 years.

2. Academics

Now enough about infrastructure. Academics is taken very seriously in HIT. Classes are conducted on time and as scheduled. They are rarely cancelled. Professors will help you if you really want their help. People here are very motivated. Right from the 3rd year, students start preparing for GATE,CAT,etc. The institute has recently started preparing students for these competitive tests. Academics is where HIT outshines every other college in it's league. Students here generally study in groups(though right before the exams) and this creates discussion allowing better understanding of the concepts. Regular assignments and internal tests help students keep in touch with the academics. HIT has the best laboratories and can beat any college under WBUT in that aspect. The labs are well equipped and has adequate machinery for every student. Lab assistants are very helpful and treat the students as friends (you will need this during practical exams, trust me).

3. Placements

Placements, the thing you waited to read about. Placements were once the crown jewel of this institute but in recent times it has taken a hit(no pun intended). It is mainly due to the job scarcity in the market itself. Core jobs are low in number and talented people, high. If you are serious about your placements then there is a job in the IT sector or a sales profile job for you. As for core jobs they need both luck and hard work to crack. This is the situation in every private college in the state. The major IT recruiters that visit the campus are Infosys, TCS, Wipro, IBM and Tech Mahindra.

These branches have very postive placement among all other branches. Especially cse & IT branche has very good placement. In ECE branch there is big scope in both software as well as core companies. For me this branch is evergreen branch, becoze u can choose any feild.

Now about placement.

  • First of all it depends upon market according to need, when IT sector has very high demand, almost every students get selected.
  • Its all about depend on ur presence of mind, sometimes u know everything but u can't explain.
  • Finally,it depends on how much company approaches in your college.

Hello Aspirant!

The placement scenario varies from year to year especially in chemical engineering of Haldia Institute of Technology.
In 2017, various core companies recruited students from HIT like Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd., Adani Wilmar, Topchem Cement, Praxair, Wacker, S.G Biogas, IR Chemicals, Oriental Nicco, Chemtex, Voith Paper, Sanmar, and Almal.
Many IT companies mass recruited chemical engineers like Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, etc.

Some chemical engineers from Haldia Institute of Technology got a chance to get placed in sales companies like Berger, Amazon, but these two companies recruited students through off campus placements. Off campus placement opportunities are also there but you need to have the patience to get through with them as most of them are willing to recruit after you have completed your final semester. Some faculty members help students appear for an interview through their industry sources off campus.

Well, talking about the placement stats, only 20% of batch get placed in core companies, the rest of the batch was placed in IT companies that are mentioned above and some decided to opt for higher studies.
The average salary package offered by core companies was 3.5-.5.5 LPA and the salary offered by IT companies was 3-3.2 LPA.
If you really want a core job then you have to be among the toppers or else smart enough to face any interview.

Hope this helps you :)

Dear Aspirant,

I understand that you are interested in knowing about the placements at SV University, Tirupati. So, don't worry I am here to help you out .

So, the placement are quite good in this college since it has a well developed placement cell. Almost 65-75% students get placed every year here. The highest package was around 5LPA offered by a startup company and the average salary will be around 3 LPA and the lowest is 2 LPA. Many companies such as Wipro, Infosys, nVipani, Raam, GGK technologies and many other companies visit the college and you will have most of the front end based jobs. A minimum of 20-25 students per each branch get into jobs everyyear. And Computer science students reserve the most number of jobs and also the placements are conducted 2 times during the final year.

Hope this helps you !!

Nope, hard luck Tulika, but with 82  percentile in JEE Mains, there is no chance to get admission in Haldia institute of technology. As the cutoff for this college is expected under 1 lakh rank for all thr branches. So hard luck for this time and best of luck
