    College Infrastructure

HITK is one of the best private engineering institutions in Kolkata due to it's exemplary infrastructure. Starting from airy classrooms, hygienic washrooms, to well spaced canteen, this college has it all. All the equipments in the classroom as well as laboratories are well maintained and they are all used in daily basis.

    Academics

I have always had the dream of being a learned biotechnologist and this college has given me that opportunity. My entire curriculum is thoroughly updated according to the daily advancements in this field. The teachers are extremely highly qualified and they make learning easier. Everything that is being taught prepares me for the future challenges.

    Placements

The quality of placements have been good so far. About 60-70% of the students were placed in campus placements. The average salary offered was around 2.5-3 lakhs per annum. As per my seniors, the placement process was easy to go through.

    Value for Money

My course costs around 1lakh per year and it's absolutely worth it.

    Campus Life

The campus life is rejuvenating. After a busy day of classes and labs, hanging out with friends at the lush green fields and the canteen feels like a breath of fresh air.

    College Infrastructure

Yes college had all the necessary infrastructure from toilets to classes everything was very fine. The living spaces were clean and hygienic. The libraries and the labs were also well taken care of by the college.

    Academics

I pursued B.Tech in Information Technology. The quality of teaching was good. The curriculum as per other colleges is pretty similar with some extensions in some areas. But all in all the education will get you job ready if you get yourself trained for the placements.

    Placements

The placements are good in college. If you're average you'll get placed just a handful of students fail in their acads. The placement dept. is very supportive. The average salary can be ranging from 4 - 6 lakh with the highest going like 40-45 lakh a rare few.

    Value for Money

It costed for two semester likely from 90000 - 1 lakh.

    Campus Life

Campus was well taken care of by the college pretty decorative.

    College Infrastructure

College has all the necessary infrastructure the bathrooms were kept clean and the canteen food was pretty hygienic. All the classrooms are well maintained with CCTV's in the corridors plus WiFi for students in the campus using their college credentials.

    Academics

Studying and pursuing a B.Tech in Information Technology. The teachers and faculties are decent and are really helpful during the time of need. The curriculum I would say matches all of the topics and the things we learn are being taught in various universities. I would say as a whole India's education system competence to train an individual to perform well in industries and future advancements is lacking.

    Placements

The placements are pretty much okay if you are studying and keeping up with your curriculum just a handful of students fail. If you're average or lower average in studies you can get placed. I think the highest package was 40-45 lakhs p.a and it went to a student pursuing Computer Science And Engineering. The average salary for an individual would be 4-6 lakh p.a. The college's placement department is very supportive.

    Value for Money

Per year, I could combine 2 semesters and the academic fee would amount to 90000- 1 lakh give or take increasing per semester. I am getting my money's worth likely in studies and acads but not in other activities.

    Campus Life

The campus is pretty well taken care of. The gardeners are the real deal trimming the extra grass or leaves of bushes to make your surroundings more beautiful. It's good what it has done according to the anti-ragging campaigns. But other than that there is limitations in college activities and other festival organisations. Our college is okay in terms of safe and soundness if you keep your distance from politics. And the majority faculty act really nicely in front of the students.

    Others

However it was it was cool and I really miss my hostel life.

Heritage is not a new name to the people of Kolkata.

    College Infrastructure

HITK, although a private engineering college, has a very big and well maintained campus. The classrooms are big, clean, well ventilated and has a capacity of 60-70 students. The labs of our department are air conditioned and well maintained. The campus has three canteens, two playgrounds ,basketball and volleyball court and a digital library having around 40k books.

    Academics

I am pursuing BTech in Biotechnology. I chose this college because very few colleges in Kolkata teach biotech and among them HITK has a very good rank and infrastructure. The teachers are quite friendly and qualified but they believe in giving assignments and keeping students always occupied thus carrying forward the typical Indian system of education. Some of the teachers are updated and modern while some of them stick to basic fundamentals of teaching.

    Placements

Placement means mostly IT companies such as Wipro tcs, Infosys, etc. Core companies that come to our college are very few in number. The average salary of a student is around 3.6 lakh per annum. There are students who gets a good package as high as 6-7 lakhs per annum but it's mainly the talent of the individual. The placement cell works hard so that even average or below average students gets a job but the placement in core companies is not good.

    Value for Money

Each semester costs around 45k-50k rupees. So the entire course costs around 4 lakhs. The facilities that they provide are good enough but not outstanding so I personally feel it's little more than it should have been. But when compared to other reputed private institutions in or outside Kolkata the expenditure seems to be low and affordable.

    Campus Life

There are various good and bad things about campus life. The good things being there are various clubs for co curricular activities such as music, dance ,drama , quiz, science ,etc. There's a student body that looks after all these things. Sometimes, there lies a gap between students and management that helps certain people to cause problems in the campus.

    College Infrastructure

The infrastructure of college is really very good.It has many facilities like Library full of books where we can spend a lot of time and also can easily issue it, Sports ground, different sports equipments, hostels with all facilities, canteen, free wifi 24 hours, laboratories where we do experiments and learn different new things that will surely help us in future. The college is really very well maintained and clean.

    Academics

I am a student of BTech. And I am studying electronics and communication engineering. Here the quality of education is well good. Some teachers are really very good in respect of teaching. But in my point of view they should more focus on practical knowledge and skills instead of bookish things and all those assignments stuff.Yes the curriculum is updated but this will efficient if we practically learn and understand the functioning, working of different electronic devices.

    Placements

If you are in cse,it or ece then the placement is quite good but in core branch it will be somehow little different. This is not a real issue in current years, core companies are coming and giving jobs but in less quantity. But the package is below average approx 3-5 lakhs per annum. It is similar to quality and quantity.Quality placement is not here but you can do wonders in exams like GATE,CAT etc.Easily internship programmes can be accessed from this college.

    Value for Money

Course cost per year is almost one lakh.To be honest, being the first year student, I do not feel that I am getting my money worth because from my point of view they should more focus on practical knowledge instead of just assignments.

    Campus Life

College campus is really very good. It's awesome.A very peaceful environment with full of greenary is there. As I have incampus hostel,I spend all my day in campus. It has a good location with all facilities available nearby it has a big market, hospital etc.You can cheerfully spend your day and can engage yourself in different activities like sports, painting, indoor games etc. Also there are different clubs like for dancing, music, photography, acting etc. and you can be a part as per your interest.

    Others

I feel in respect of infrastructure and campus, it's good as it has many facilities.Teachers and staff are also supportive.Safety and security is well concerned. But as I say the college should focus on knowledge, skills so that many students can get a good placement.Overall it's good.

My review of Heritage Institute of Technology

    College Infrastructure

The college has state of the art infrastructure and facilities. The laboratories are well maintained and have top of the line apparatus. The library is one of the largest in campus libraries in the state. There are three girl's hostel inside campus which are extremely well maintained and have strict rules regarding safety. The clasrooms are large and airy. The food in the canteen in hygienic but of average quality.

    Academics

I am currently studying Electronics and Communication Engineering. The teachers are extremely helpful and well educated. All the faculty members hold at least a master's degree. The curriculum is regularly updated to keep up with the recent developments in the field. The college takes great initiative to make the students ready for professional environment.

    Placements

The quality of placement has been average. The CSE and ECE branch has record of 100% placement while IT has 90% placement. The placement percentage in other branches are average. The highest package offered in campus was 16lpa. The average salary ranges between 3.5-4.5lpa.

    Value for Money

The initial admission fee for non tfw students is around 70000 INR and per semester is around 40000 INR. The total cost of the course is around 4 lakhs but considering the average package of 4lpa it extremely value for money.

    Campus Life

Heritage Institute of Technology has the largest campus in the city after Jadavapur University. The campus life is far above any other engineering college in the state. There are three huge football fields, two basketball courts and a badminton court. The teachers are extremely friendly and always look out for the students. The college is in an ideal location being 500m from the EM Bypass. The Ruby hospital is just 300m from the college and thus the college can readily handle any emergencies.

    Others

I am currently in the first year but I am already in love with my college. The seniors are extremely friendly and helpful. There is no fear of ragging or bullying inside campus.

    Academics

I am currently studying Electronics and Communication Engineering. Going into engineering it was a field that interested me the most and has great prospects for the future. The quality of teaching is very high and the all the professors hold atleast a master's degree. The curriculum is updated regularly to include recent developments in the field and make the students ready for professional work. There is IEEE chapter in our college that is very active that always strives for excellence.

    Placements

The college ranks among the top three in the state in terms of placement. The CSE and ECE branch boasts of having 100%placement while IT has a record of 90% placement. The placement records of the other branches are average. The highest package offered in campus was 16lpa while off campus it was 40lpa. The average salary offered is 3.5-4.5lpa . The majority of students are hired by IT companied like TCS and Wipro.

    Value for Money

Considering that it a private Institute the course id extremely value for money. The admission fees is around 60000 INR. While the semester fees ranges between 40000-45000INR.The whole course costs around 4 lakhs however since the average salary offered is around 4lpa the course is extremely value for money.

    Campus Life

The Heritage Institute of Technology has the largest campus in Kolkata. There are three lish green football fields, two basketball courts and a badminton court. There's also a sports room that is filled with top quality equipments. The teachers are extremely friendly and try to do their best to impart knowledge among the students. One of the best college in west bengal

    Verified Review
    College Infrastructure

The college boasts about state of the art infrastructure with well maintained campus, the classrooms have adequate light and are airy, the central library provides for all our book needs and we also have access to digital library. The college also has hostels within the campus which are spacious and affordable. The canteen of Heritage provides us with healthy and affordable foods. The lab in my department are large and maintained, however some of the instruments need replacements.

    Academics

Biotechnology curriculum and faculty is one of the best not only in the college but also in the Eastern Region. Every year nearly 15 students qualify GATE from our department which has a strength of 60 students, which is quite a good number. Most of the students opt for higher studies and perform quite well there too..

    Placements

Though, every year you'll hear about problems in placement, yet most of the students get placed on campus. Nearly 60-80% students get placed overall. The average package is about 3.5-4.5 lpa. Ultimately, placement depends more on your skills. I bagged a job in Biotech core company with 4.37lpa package, which is quite rare given the present market conditions. I'm grateful to college for providing me with all sorts of pre -placement assistance. The TPO cell is no doubt one of the best in HITK.

    Value for Money

The entire cost of studying B.Tech will be nearly around 4 lacs excluding living expenses. The quality of professors are very good, most of them having PhD from reputed institutions like IIT or abroad. Even after being a private college, the fees structure is less than NITs and IITs. So, if you want to do your Bachelors from Kolkata, Heritage is definitely a very good option.

    Campus Life

The campus life is full of ups and downs, though for the last 2-3 years we did not recieve the well known 'Eclecia' - The cultural fest of Heritage, we were all set to organize it this year, since the college even formed a students' council for the same. In previous years, the student activities were organized through clubs where the faculties were very helpful. nevertheless, there are enough activities and opportunities to keep you engaged.

    Others

I personally believe that my decision to join college had been one of the best decisions I've taken. The beautiful campus has never made me feel burdened for staying long in college. Instead, I loved college more than my friends in other colleges. A tip for the students: Do try to attend as much classes as much as possible, 4 years of college will pass sooner than you think. I really miss college, given the fact that it ended abruptly due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Have a question related to HIT Kolkata ?

    Hello there,

With a rank of 72,000 in WBJEE , securing admission into the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) branch at Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata might be challenging, as this branch is often highly sought after and has relatively higher cutoffs.

    Options:

    1. Alternative Branches: You might have better chances with branches like Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering , or Civil Engineering if they have lower cutoffs.

    2. Counseling Rounds: Keep an eye on the WBJEE counseling process and check cutoffs during each round for possible openings.

    3. Other Colleges: Consider applying to other engineering colleges in West Bengal or nearby states where the cutoffs might be lower.

im pursuing biotech from heritage institute of technology.. is it worth it? because from csab i would have gotten civil engineering in iiest shibpur

Choosing between Biotechnology and Civil Engineering depends on your interests and career goals. Biotechnology can offer exciting opportunities in research, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals, especially if you're passionate about biological sciences and innovation in life sciences. Civil Engineering, on the other hand, provides a more traditional engineering path with opportunities in infrastructure development and construction.

If you're interested in biotechnology and the field excites you, it could be a worthwhile choice. However, if you feel more inclined towards traditional engineering and the opportunities it presents, you might have considered civil engineering more suitable. Both fields have their merits, so it's essential to align your choice with your career aspirations and interests.

    Hope it helps..
