IGEC Sagar: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Indira Gandhi Engineering College popularly known as IGEC was established in the year 1981 at Sagar, Madhya Pradesh is an Autonomous College. Located in Jabalpur Road this engineering giant is home to a sprawling 220 acres of campuses that is almost in the vicinity of Makroniya Railway Station. Its full name is Institute of Global Education and Cultural Exchange Sagar, but people refer to it as IGEC Sagar – a fact confirmed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The college has an impressive spectrum of engineering courses, in total, there are ten categories of programs available. IGEC Sagar with students intake 11058 faculties 23 creates a favorable environment for grooming the students as well as professional development of the faculties.

The college comprises various current structures which are aimed at facilitating the study experience of the students. The library appended to their academic assets contains of over 60,000 inserted book stocks, bound journal and manuscript collections, e-mail/internet amenities. IGEC Sagar provides its student athletes a general quadrangle having a 400-meter athletic track and facilities for football and cricket, and other activities such as volleyball, badminton, basketball, etc. This college also values student’s safety accord the college with a separate hostel for boys and girls, and the two have the following number of intakes; boys 140 and girls 74 intakes respectively. Every hostel room is properly equipped with basic items that make the surrounding comfortable for the occupants. Also, the campus has a dispensary with a qualified medical attendant, who can quickly provide for the needs of the inhabitants.

The course that is offered by IGEC Sagar is wide, comprising of a total of ten courses, which are all full time. The college offers six undergraduate BE degree programs to meet the range of engineering ambitions and four lateral entry programs. The BE programs are the Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Information Technology each of which offers an intake of 60 students. The lateral entry programs in these disciplines, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering offer 12 seat each while Civil Engineering offers only 6 seat. This diverse course structure leads students into an opportunity of selecting numerous specialization options that gives them a vantage point in a variety of sectors in the engineering industry.

The procedure for admission to IGEC Sagar is centralized and the admitted students are selected through a merit basis system. No particular dates for exams are given, however it can be expected that the college takes into account the student’s performance in the particular entrance examinations. Lateral entry to BE streams is also provided to the students if they are so interested that they can join the diploma course in a particular stream and can join the institute to do BE in that specific line in the second year. This is a valid pathway for all the core disciplines such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Communication, and Information Sciences and Technology Engineering. Even in worplace experience, this is evident through the availability of well equipped laboratories and computer centers for all departments within the college. Such resources complemented by the college’s track on promising fields of technology, enable students for the dynamic challenges in the engineering profession. Unfortunately, as for the particular information on the scholarships, IGEC Sagar being the governmental organization does raise the question about the availability of the various types of financial help for the talented students.
