Indirani College of Nursing, Puducherry course was started in the year 2008 and it is recognized college for nursing education. This co-educational college is placed at Ariyur, which is on the Pondy-Villupuram Main Road and the college occupies a total of 3 acres. Introducing quality education the institute is accredited from National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC] and approved from Indian Nursing Council [INC]. As an affiliated college, it provides students with a wide choice of Nursing programmes; 2 degrees are offered across the 7 courses; in total 472 students attend BCN. The faculty strength is 64 and the college has a good student teacher ratio which enable students to take  adequate attention of faculty and quality education.

Indirani College of Nursing has a wide range of facilities for its present day student which are state of the art and so fitted to complement their learning and development needs. It plays a major information center by providing an extensive source of nursing literature and research information. Modern laboratory facilities characterized by availability of appropriate medical equipment are necessary for training nurses. The college’s IT structures guarantee the students keep up with technology developments in the healthcare sector. Developing the total person, the institution has common and playing courts in volleyball, basket ball and tennis, and games such as table, chess and others. The college also maintains a gym for those who are exercising to keep fit. Three versatile auditoriums accommodating between 200-1000 people house academic and cultural activities to enhance the students’ interactivity.

This makes Indirani College of Nursing have various courses of nursing to meet various career path that a patient may wish to take in the health care field. Currently the institute has 7 full- time programmes out of which 3 courses are undergraduate courses and 4 are postgraduate courses. The college also provides undergraduate 4 years B.Sc Nursing programme with 100 new admission and 2 years Post Basic B.Sc Nursing course with 30 new admission capacity. For the more annually specialised occasions, the college offers many M.Sc Nursing programmes whereby each programme takes 2 years to complete and students with an entry of 8 specialisations are allowed in each programme. These include specific master’s of science in Medical Surgical Nursing, Obstetrics & Gynecological Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Mental/ Health Nursing and Community Health /Nursing. The total approved intake to all courses enrollment is 170 students per year and that is the college’s way of nurturing skilled nursing professionals.

Admission policy at Indirani College of Nursing shall encompass all the aspects to make sure each deserving candidate gets an opportunity to start his / her nursing course. For the B.Sc Nursing, the candidate shall have done 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as the group subjects. It normally depends on the grades scored in the qualifying test and the performance in the admission test whereby the college or state administers. For Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, candidates should have passed Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) exam and should have one year of experience. Candidates seeking admission in M.Sc Nursing course should have completed their B.Sc Nursing or Post Basic B.Sc Nursing with the least passing marks as per the INDIAN NURSING COUNCIL. The college also accepts valid score from asked nursing entrance exams conducted at the state or at national level. Unfortunately no specific detail on the scholarship can be provided but the college is in the habit of providing scholarship to deserving and needy students.
