Institute of Management Development and Research, Pune also known as IMDR Pune was established in 1974 as a constituent unit of the Deccan Education Society. The institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. 

IMDR Pune offers a 2 years full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme with various specialisations such as Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Supply Chain and Operations. IMDR Pune also offers a 4 years Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) for doctoral research in various streams of management.

IMDR Pune courses have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). IMDR Pune admission is based on the scores of national-level entrance exams such as CAT, CMAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA, MAH MBA CET. IMDR Pune also conducts its own entrance test called the IMDR Test for Management Aptitude (ITMA) for PGDM admission. IMDR Pune admission criteria also include academic performance, work experience, and a personal interview.

IMDR Pune placement is handled by the IMDR placement cell, which facilitates the interaction between the students and the recruiters. The IMDR Pune placement cell also provides career guidance, resume building, and mock interviews to the students.IMDR Pune facilities include a well-stocked library, a computer lab, a hostel, a cafeteria, a sports complex, a gym, an auditorium, and a medical centre. IMDR Pune facilities also include various clubs and committees for the students to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
