About Institute of Tool Engineering, Dindigul

Institute of Tool Engineering, Dindigul (ITE Dindigul) is an independent technical Institute under the government of Tamilnadu having its inception in 1962. One of the oldest government institutions, it was established in 1957 at Dindigul, Tamil Nadu and is for the future of engineering. Located on 2-acre Campus, ITE Dindigul is acknowledged by AICTE and offers the field of tool engineering. As at now, the institute has 146 students and a faculty complement of 1, which makes ratio students-to-faculty very flexible for enhancing learning especially for engineering students.

Further, ITE Dindigul has developed the following infrastructures in order to facilitate the education process of its learners. There is also an auditorium for all round functions and events including seminar where knowledge and skills can be imparted. An academic library fully equipped makes a learning institution’s a one stop centre for information to enable students get through with their courses. The institute boasts of having departmental laboratories which provides a practical nature necessary for engineering education. Being aware of the need for technology to operate today’s schools, ITE Dindigul has equipped itself with very good IT facilities to ensure that its students tap on modern advancement in this area. For comprehensive development, the institute offers sports facilities in order to promote both physical and academic development. Further, the college includes the effective alumni associations to maintain the networking connection that will in one way excellent the current students in the choice of their careers.

At present, ITE Dindigul offers one specialised course: a Certificate and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering majoring on Tool and Die making. This has been developed as a fulltime programme offered for three years and equips students with appropriate knowledge and skills in this specific area of mechanical engineering. The capacity of the institute has been approved at 45 students for this course, and it also demonstrates the institute’s healthy attitude to retain a small ratio of student-staff. This specific strategy enables the institute to funnel all its efforts towards providing quality education in its offered specialisations.
