Jamalpur Mahavidyalaya is one of the affiliated colleges of Burdwan, established in 2009. It has a campus area of 2.625 acres. The total number of student enrolment in this institution is 1,136 students for the diversification of academic environment. Till date, this college provides courses for 2 degree programs: 7 programs. Besides other services, the primary service of the institute is undergraduate studies in the humanities. The institute has faculties of dedicated educators-7 educators facilitate on-campus education as well as intensive practice with direct attention to students.

The institution has quite a number of facilities meant to help improve the learning process of the students. The library has a very large stock of many textbooks and reference materials for all honors and general courses. The library is being extended and digitized, with the intention of ensuring that students have access to current research resources. Even reading rooms in its library that are furnished with academic journals and periodicals to aid curricular study as well as in preparation for several competitive examinations exist. It has sports facilities for the development of the physical health of the students. The college provides hostels for boys as well as girls for safe and sound living to those coming from far-off places. A cafeteria located in the campus caters for the nutritional needs of both the students and the staff. The laboratories are kept clean and equipped enough to enable practical learning in relevant subjects. In addition, there is an active alumni association to help keep up a proper network between the current students and graduates, thus bringing forth mentorship and career guidance.

It provides 7 undergraduate courses on full-time basis. The College specializes in BA degrees with honours courses in Bengali, English, Sanskrit, History, Political Science, and Philosophy. Courses at an undergraduate level are aimed to give in-depth knowledge in subjects where a student chooses to major.
