Hello,

If you want to go for higher studies  through IELTS then, let me tell you that there are 4 rounds to clear IELTS.

  • Speaking.
  • Listening.
  • Writing.
  • Reading

And the total of these are 9 bands each.. Then we take out the average which overall becomes 9 bands.
So, to go to Canada through IELTS you need to score overall 6.5 bands out of 9 bands.
I hope this would help you. For further queries please feel free to write me down in the comment box.

Hey Ashu!

You are surely eligible for admission in German universities, however, different universities have different criterias for determining your eligibility; depending on the college you are planning to apply to. Hence, it is advised to visit the college's (in which you are planning to apply to) website and check the same.

Your GRE and IELTS score shouldn't be a problem but the college authorities might ask for the reason behind that drop or you can include the reason in your application as well, as an additional note, to give them an insight into your situation and so that it isn't reflected badly on you and your application, if you have a genuine reason behind that.

For more information regarding German universities, it's requirements for studying there and the eligibility criteria of different colleges, you are advised to visit the following link: https://www.daad.de/en/

Hope this helps. All the best!

Hi!
The score differs for each country. For UK your score must be above 7.0, for Australia it should be above 6.0 and for US your score must be above 6.5. for more details visit the link mentioned below.

Hi Dhruval,
Congrats on scoring a 6 pointer in IELTS. Speaking of getting a master's degree which is a post graduation course, to get into Aus/New Zealand you will need a minimum of 6.5 overall in IELTS. No university accepts a student with 6 for a post graduation studies. Sorry.

Good Luck

Any IELTS score above 6 is considered fit enough for resorting to a foreign institute; however, you must look into the institute's rules and regulations and stay facilities in the locality before you actually decide to enter it.

Hello Saivikas. For doing a masters in engineering, the first thing to be kept in mind is the research facilities, research publications and number of patents of the college, where you are applying. Moreover, your goals also matter while deciding the college. For instance, if you want a job after your masters, go with a college/institute which is more industry oriented. While if you want to continue in research after your masters, go with a college/institute which has more research exposure. Moreover, the faculty profile of the institute should also be kept in mind while applying.

So, whether you choose a IIT/NIT or an abroad institute, do the research of the institute with the points mentioned above in mind.

All the best.

Hello Vijay,

A good IELTS score will definitely add up to your profile and might be a characteristic to choose you amongst other students who have similar profile as yours.

But if you are going to go for technical studies, IELTS score won't fetch you a scholarship.
You're good to go if you're above the cutoff range for that University.

For scholarships and getting top notch Universities you need to work on your profile building.
Doing projects, research work and a good GRE score will help.

Hope this helps :)
Best of luck!

Hello,

Ridhimittal

  • IELTS is the high – stakes English test for study, migration or work purposes. It is necessary for people who want to live in places where English is the mode of communication.

  • IELTS helps to

Assess English language skills at all levels – listening, reading, writing, speaking.

         Communicating for real life context.

  • IELTS helps to get to the countries mentioned below –

         Australia

         Canada

         New Zealand

         UK

         USA

  • Now, IELTS has two categories –

Academic Training – This is the training for candidates who are giving the exam to pursue higher education, or some professional registration.

General Training – This is the training for the candidates who are giving the exam for migrating or pursuing secondary education, or any work experience to Australia, New Zealand,Canada and UK.

  • Purposes of giving IELTS –

          Higher Education

          Work Purposes

Migration – IELTS is accepted in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK for migration as a proof of efficiency in English language for both study and work.

If you are applying for a work visa, professional recognition or for permanent residency in Canada, it is likely that you will be required to present evidence of English language proficiency. IELTS General Training is the only internationally available English proficiency test accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for immigration to Canada. To gain a Canadian visa, you will need to demonstrate your English abilities to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

All universities and colleges in Canada accept IELTS, as well as all professional associations have set minimum language requirements for professional registration.

To be eligible for Express Entry, you must prove your English language ability:

• take a language test

• get the minimum results required by your program

• include the results when you complete your Express Entry profile

The language test evaluates these abilities:

• writing

• reading

• listening

• speaking

To measure your English, IELTS use Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) for English. The minimum level for all four abilities is CLB 7.

The skills you need will depend on the group your job is classified in under the National Occupational Classification System (NOC). The skill level for CLB 7 is NOC 0 or A and for CLB 5 is NOC B.

Your test results must be less than two years old when you submit your application for permanent residence. If you’ve been invited to apply for permanent residence, check that your language test results will still be valid when you plan to apply.

You can take any of these approved language tests: English

CELPIP – Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program

(you must take the CELPIP-General test since they don’t accept the General-LS test for Express Entry.)

IELTS – International English Language Testing System

(you must take the General Training option, they don’t accept the Academic option for  Express Entry)

  • If you haven’t been invited to apply for permanent residence

You may want to make sure your results are valid for the rest of the time you’ll be in the pool.

If your results will expire before you can apply, you should:

• be tested again or

• apply before your test results expire or

• decline the invitation and go back into the pool to be considered in the future

  • Individual organisations have different requirements. Make sure you check which IELTS test the organisation you are applying to recognises.

I hope this solved your quries, feel free to comment if you have any other doubts.

Good Luck !

Dear Dhruvil, there is no set eligibility criteria for appearing for IELTS. IELTS is not an entrance examination. It is a language proficiency test taken for admission into foreign Universities where English is the native language. So, the better time to appear for IELTS is when you want to go abroad either for higher studies or job prospects. The better your score, better the chances of landing admissuons from top Universities.
