Jayvantrai Harrai Desai Polytechnic, Surat was established in the year 2011. It is a co-educational institute located at Palsana, Gujarat. The campus sprawls over 6 acres of land. This affiliated college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It has four diploma courses in the engineering field with a student strength of 374 and faculty strength of 20. It is an institution committed to quality education, which manifests in its well-equipped infrastructure and industry-oriented curriculum, thus empowering the students for a successful career in the technical field.

There are quite a number of sophisticated facilities that give the students an upgraded experience at the polytechnic. Infrastructure is also of a robust nature where the Computer Centre comprises of an area of 187 sq. mt, furnished and fitted with the latest hardware and software. The college has well-maintained buses for those coming from various parts of the city. The institution also stays in close contact with its alumni through a dedicated alumni association.

Jayvantrai Harrai Desai Polytechnic offers four total full-time diploma courses in engineering, which comprise a three-year duration. In aggregate, the institute has an approved intake of 210 seats for all the courses. Under the diploma course, programs offered are Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. These programs have been structured in a way so as to provide students with the basic foundation in the respective fields through a mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skill development.

The merit-based process dominates the admission procedure in Jayvantrai Harrai Desai Polytechnic. 50% of the intake is taken by the Admission Committee for Professional Diploma Courses. Balance 50% is to be filled by institute management. It has also been prescribed that 10% of the sanctioned intake in State quota can be reserved for direct admission of C2D ITI/ Certificate Course holders for the second year of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. The other diploma programs of the institute follow more or less the same merit-based admission procedure.
