JD College of Education Sri Muktsar Sahib, Punjab was established in the year 2005. This affiliated college, recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), is all about building the future of prospective teachers. Situated over a three acre land the college provides a conducive environment to the 257 learners enroled in the institution. JD College of Education has fifteen dedicated members in the faculty with all having rich teaching experience thereby maintaining a good teacher student ratio thereby providing more individual attention to the students.
JD College of Education also has numerous enjoyable learning amenities that compliment the learning of its students. The centerpiece of academic resources for any institution is a library and resource centre that boasts of an extensive collection of books, journals, periodicals and other reading materials for teaching and learning. The computer laboratory has modern PC’s, hardware, and software,Connection to the internet compliments students as they acquire important IT skills in the computer age. Also noteworthy is the Educational Technology Lab includes essential furniture such as TVs, OHPs, slide projectors, and LCD projectors; the items ensure the students exposure to technologically advanced teaching tools as part of the training.
JD College of Education currently offers two full-time courses, a B.Ed degree and a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). The B.Ed programme initially proposed to start with an intake capacity of hundred seats is a two-year course to make teachers at secondary and higher secondary levels. Another proposed course is the D.El.Ed, which comprises of 50 seats and is also a two year course to train teachers for primary and upper primary level.

There are several ways through which students get admission at JD College of Education but mainly, the college follows the marks scored by the students in the exams. For the B.ED programme the norms laid down by the N.C.T.E for the admission Norms prescribed by the University/Punjabi University/Patiala & the Government of Punjab is applicable. Likewise, for the D.El.Ed Programme admissions shall be made on merit in either the qualifying examination or entrance examination or both as per the policies of state government. College level signification reserved as per NCTE, university and Punjab Government rules and regulation so that each one eligible person get equal chance.
