Master of Technology(M.Tech) in Electrical Power System is a two-year full-time postgraduate Course offered by JNTUA College of Engineering, Anantapur recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated  to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur.

The department of Electrical Engineering was established in 1946 offering B. Tech course (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) with an intake of 30 students, which was enhanced to 50 in the year 1995 and subsequently to 60 in the year 2009. In 1946 the college was established at Guindy, Chennai and was shifted to Anantapur in 1948. The Electrical Engineering department offers various M. Tech programs. M. Tech, with specialization in “Electrical Power Systems” was started in the year 1971 with an intake of 25. Power and Industrial Drives was started in the year 2001 with an intake of 25 and Control Systems also started in the year 2001 with an intake of 25. The department also offers Part time Post-graduation program M. Tech (PTPG) with an intake of 25 for working people in the APCPDCL, APTRANSCO, etc., The department is having research facilities for Ph. D Programme in Electrical Engineering Discipline.

Eligibility Criteria

In each course, there are 18 Convener quota seats and 7 Sponsored Category seats. For Convener quota seats, apart from the required qualifying degree, it is necessary that the candidate has a valid GATE Rank or PGECET Rank.

For Sponsored Category, in addition to the qualifying degree, the Candidate must be employed with a minimum service of one year in any organization and the organization has to sponsor him/her. Admissions for this category are made through the notification for Spot Admissions. The order of preference followed in admissions is a valid GATE score/ valid PGECET Rank/Percentage marks in the qualifying examination  (Minimum 50%). If any leftover seats are available in Convener Quota, they will also be filled in the Spot Admissions.

Admission Details

Admission to Two Year Master of Technology (M.Tech.) Regular Programmes is based on GATE / AP PGECET counselling conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
