JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Nanjangud: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

JSS College of Arts Commerce and Science nanjangud came in to existence in the year 1968, is a co-educational institution situated in Mysore City of Karnataka. This affiliated college is NAAC accredited and has a wide portfolio of undergraduate courses. Kabarak college occupies a spacious plot of land of 13.17 acres and enrolment was 591 with 43 teaching faculty. It has four degrees offered to undergraduates in a broad spectrum of specialisation with equal distribution of males 325 and females 217 students. The college aims at providing quality education in arts commerce and science streams and moulds the students to face the coming competitions in their field of endeavor and ‘higher education.

The college boasts of the following facilities to help improve the learning of the students in their endeavors. It is functional and arguably one of the best learning resource centres, stocked with modern and traditional learning accessories. There is therefore a need to ensure that female students who travel from distant places are well accommodated, the college has a girls hostel to ensure that they are on their own and can manage.

To support student and staff monetary needs, there is an extension counter of the Indian Bank situated in the campus. The college also has a cafeteria within the compound whose main business is selling of healthy foods and beverages at affordable prices, which helps students interact informally. The college also has good sports /sports and games facilities because the college understands the need for the students taking sports and games as part of providing a balanced character development and an extra activity besides the academic activity.

JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Nanjangud offers four full-time undergraduate programmes: Holders of bachelor’s degree include Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). These are three-year courses which were designed to fit different academic leaning and career goals. The college offers intakes to a total of 591 students across all programmes and thus, is very much determined to offer quality education to as many students as possible within the region. Unfortunately the college has not disclosed specific data regarding the number of students graduated in the latest year; however, the college is well equipped to support issues of comprehensive education that ensures graduates’ success and completion rates.

JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Nanjangud has a most effective admission process – they are not discriminatory and the marks obtained by the candidates matter most in the process. It is, however, unclear how admission is conducted for each course but it is believed that the college takes into consideration performance of students in the qualifying examinations. In scholarship programme the effectiveness of the college has been reflected by numerical data from 2021 that among 542 undergraduate students 487 were given some form of reimbursement. It shows the efforts of this institution on providing an opportunity of attaining higher education among the students. Over the five plus decades of its existence, JSS College has remained relevant in the continuous development of education in Nanjangud and those adjacent regions.
