Kabi Nazrul Mahavidyalaya, Sonamura is a co-ed, government college that was established in 1988 with the aim of ascertaining and propagating learning among the folks of this extreme western region of the state Tripura. Kabi Nazrul Mahavidyalaya is UGC recognised and NAAC accredited with a grade B. Kabi Nazrul Mahavidyalaya is affiliated to the Tripura University and is administered by the Department of HIgher Education, Government of Tripura. 

The courses offered by Kabi Nazrul Mahavidyalaya are limited to the undergraduate level. While the degrees being offered are- B.A (Hons), B.A, B.Sc and B.Sc (Hons). The admissions into Kabi Nazrul Mahavidyalaya take place through the merit of the candidate in the 10+2 examination. 

Kabi Nazrul Mahavidyalaya has a separate placement cell for all the campus recruitments. THe placement cell of Kabi Nazrul Mahavidyalaya organises various workshops, seminars, personality programmes and various other activities for students. 

The campus of Kabi Nazrul Mahavidyalaya occupies 21 acres of land and houses a library with a rich collection of books, girls hostel facility and well-equipped science laboratories.
