Kandaswami Kandar’s College, started in 1962, is in Paramathi Velur, Tamil Nadu, India. It is a NAAC accredited college with ‘B’ grade and the college offers 38 courses in 9 degrees. This institution occupies a spacious area of forty-eight-acre campus and has 2697 students enroled in it with 136 faculty members. The college offers a rich education portfolio with a total of 15 UG, 14 PG and nine PhD programmes. 61% of the students are male and 39% of the students are female with 79% of the student undertaking undergraduate, 21% of students undertaking postgraduate in Tamil, History, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Commerce and Computer Science.

The campus consists of individual hostels for boys and girls with proper amenities for the students. A systematic library with more than forty-eight thousand volumes and non-periodical publications is provided. Its provision of services includes over 48,000 volumes, different categories of digital sources, and other services. The college provides special importance to sports and has tennis courts, ground for football, and a gym to support the facilities. In the field of academics, there is facility of laboratories for physics, chemistry, botany, microbiology, zoology and computers. IT facilities help students to have all the updated technologies as required, and an auditorium is used in organising programmes and seminars among other uses. It also provides medical facilities, canteen services and transports services which is important to student needs.

It offers 15 undergraduate programmes, 14 postgraduate programmes and 9 doctoral programmes to its students. Altogether, the system offers 38 choices of courses of which 19 are aided while the other 19 are unaided . The college surveyed students stand at level 2, 697 while 807 of them are enroled, and 2,311 students. Of these, 1,821 are undergraduate students and 490 are postgraduate students. The college emphasises full time education and all the programmes are delivered in full time mode. The courses offered are B.Sc in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, BA in English, Tamil, History, B.Com, and so on.

Education at Kandaswami Kandar’s College is  free and students may have to face an entrance examination. For undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the college looks for the marks scored in the previous qualifying examination. As for the PhD admission process, there is an interview as well. The college operates under the academic calendar of a Periyar University, Salem to which the college is affiliated to. The college has different scholarships that help deserving students, and all the students that attend the college get some sort of scholarship.
