Established in the year 1957 as an affiliated college, Karmaveer Hire Arts, Science, Commerce and Education College, Gargoti, has been awarded a 'B' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore. It is affiliated to the National Council for Teacher Education. The college is spread in a vast area of 65 acres with total student strength to the tune of 2,505 students, with balanced sex ratio as 1,074 males and 1,276 females. The college provides 10 courses in 8 degrees and is conducted by a faculty of 36 committed teachers. Specialisation includes Arts, Science, Commerce and Education, with major attentiveness to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. 

Karmaveer Hire Arts, Science, Commerce and Education College facilities assist in preparing the student. The library was christened the R.V. Parulekar Library in c.1960 and has over 50,000 titles, which constitute a major part of one's academic life. For hostellers, the institution provides separate hostels for boys and girls. In addition, a new ladies' hostel has been constructed in the year 2012 under a UGC scheme and is equipped with all modern amenities. Other facilities include a gym, sports facilities, and basic IT infrastructure apart from a special suite of laboratories, a cafeteria, and an auditorium. For career development, there is a training and placement cell.

For BCA, it is through Common Entrance Test conducted by Shivaji University followed by merit based selection. The admissions of B.Ed and integrated B.Ed courses will be based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination and entrance examination conducted by the concerned regulating body or its agent or state government's and university's guidelines. The college follows the reservation rules of the Government of Maharashtra.
