Kodachadri Government First Grade College, Hosanagara – the College was established in the year 1985 and it is one of the best College in Shimoga, Karnataka. This affiliated college that is recognized by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) hosts several undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Situated on an extensive piece of land touching 14.5 acres, the college has in its rolls a total of 941 students of which there are almost equal numbers of male and female students: 48 percent and 52 percent respectively. The institute currently has 14 regular teachers and offers 12 different programmes within 5 study courses in arts, commerce and science streams.

The Kodachadri Government First Grade College boasts of having well outfitted classes and facilities that enrich the course delivery of the college. Originally the Gerehu Library was established with stock of 181 books in 1986 and now it has expanded so much and provides more than 21000 volumes of books comprising text books, reference books and periodicals. The library also provides students with the NLIST which stands for National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content. For sport and physical fitness lovers the college has a 400 meters Tracks for running, volley ball, hand ball, and facilities for kabbadi and kho-kho. The facility includes indoor games like chess, carrom, thereby adopting the overall development model.

Kodachadri Government First Grade College ensures that students enjoy a wide variety of programmes to suit the various interests of different students. Currently the institution offers 4 courses of which 2 have undergraduate and postgraduate options. Undergraduate programmes are available and Bachelor of Arts (BA) programmes are offered. The college also has a B.Sc, Bachelor of Commerce- B.Com and Bachelor of Business Administration- BBA. 

The admission procedure in the Kodachadri Government First Grade College is therefore put in a simple easy understandable method such that any candidate with the minimum requirements should be able to apply for a course offered by this college. Self financial though specific fee structure is unavailable due to its status as a government institution of learning which seeks to offer quality education at cheap cost in this context of a collegiate learning institution.

Kodachadri Government First Grade College is aimed to give the best education and an environment for the students to learn in. The institution has a modern equipped computer laboratory through which the students can improve their information technology education. College also has an air conditioned Digital hall and Kuvempu auditorium required for the academic ,cultural programmes. An edible overseeing by the committee of the staff and students that serves as a canteen for buying and taking of snacks and refreshment during and between study classes.
