Krishna College of Education, Tiruvannamalai: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

This paper aims to establish Krishna College of Education, which was started in 2007 in the city of Tiruvannamalai in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is a co-educational institute, which is an affiliated college recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and has the provision for providing good teacher education. Located at Tiruvannamalai Dist.—Tiruvannamalai—Kallakurichi Main Road, this college admits 200 students together and this college is managed by 13 faculties who are dedicated educated faculty members. At present, the college provides only the B.EI. degree programme with specialisation in teacher education.

The college is endowed with the responsibility of producing the best environment for learning among the learners. It comprises a state-of-the-art, centrally air-conditioned library section fitted with modern furniture and the latest books, newspapers, and magazines to meet the study requirements of the future teachers. The campus boasts well-equipped chemistry and physics laboratories along with other laboratories, such as computer laboratories, which are manned by experienced professors. For extracurricular activities, the college has an aspect of sports facilities; as the American proverb goes, it is said that ‘a healthy mind dwells in a healthy body’. In this regard, the campus contains an auditorium for the occasions, including seminars, and contributes to creating a thriving academic environment.

Krishna College of Education is devoted to the course only—the B.ED. programme of Mangalmayi Education. This is a two-year programme intended for a full-time programme where the university moulds competent and dedicated educators. The admission capacity for this programme has been approved to be one hundred and the college has been keen to offer quality education, hence the small intakes. The B.Ed course has been designed for having the right mix of theory knowledge and teaching skills so that students can think of their career with education safely.

Like all the institutions of education in the State of Tamil Nadu, and more so as per the norms laid down by the university affiliated to this college, admission to all the courses offered at the Krishna College of Education is based strictly on merit. Based on the qualifying examination, entrance test, or any other method as may be set by the authorities, students who wish to join a specific institution or university are given admission tests. This helps the college to admit candidates who are capable of performing well in the area of their training. 

Till the academic session of 2018-19, the annual fees for the B.Ed programme of SGT University are ₹75,000, which will be affordable for the applicants. As for the specific scholarships, the college cannot be deemed to provide the necessary information, although there can be many kinds of fees and grants for deserving students. This is why it has been our mission at the Krishna College of Education to train equipping skills and dedicated teachers to face region classrooms.
