Krishna Teacher Education Institution, Thrissur, or more commonly known as Krishna Teacher Training, Thrissur is almost an individual institution that started its journey in 1963. This co-educational institution is situated in Panangad, Thrissur, Kerala, and is committed to teacher training. It is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to provide education strictly according to the norms of the country. Krishna Teacher Education Institution is a small school providing controlled learning conditions and occupying a 1.3-acre campus.

There is certain infrastructural requirement that the institute meets to enable the students in their academic endeavours. To the community, the library can be an important resource centre that houses books and other educational material and references. For increased practical lessons, the college has provided departmental laboratories that are well fitted for teaching subjects. Krishna Teacher Education Institution currently offers one primary course: the Diploma in Elementary Education, officially known as D.El.Ed. This is a two-year programme offered to train primary school teachers who want to have a full-time course. The institute has an approved capacity to take 50 students for this course, which shows that the institute’s goal towards offering quality education through admission of a small number of students is well actualised. The institute currently has a student population of 55 while the trainers and faculty are 5, which means that the institute has a compact student-teacher ratio.

Admission to students’s teaching programmes in Krishna Teacher Education Institution is conducted in compliance with the state government of Kerala and the NCTE. Usually the categories for admission include merit; this will depend on the marks attained in the qualifying exam.
