Affiliated college, Kullu College of Education, Garsa, was established in the year 2000 in the Kullu valley of Himachal Pradesh. Boasting its location in the village of Bohgana, this institute is designed to shape the future of educators. The college located in 1.36 acres and has only two planned courses in education with a total enrolment of 229 students. At present, it has a faculty of 14 qualified and experienced members to look into the students' academic process. Recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Kullu College of Education has always maintained standards in teacher education.

Kullu College of Education has facilities that the college leadership aims at making available to the students in their learning process. The college boasts of a good library; students have a variety of resources to learn from. The institution has equipped the students with excellent IT for technology support. For overall growth of the students, the college provides sport facilities for the students, it improves fitness among students. An auditorium is used for holding a different event and seminars helping create active student life on campus. The college also makes sure that theoretical learning is complemented with departmental laboratory where students are trained. There is a cafeteria on the campus of the learning institution in which students can both rest and chat. In addition, the college owns buses that would normally ply for transport services between Sarwari, Kullu and college on a daily basis that makes access to campus by the students easy in case they happen to be from within that vicinity.

Kullu College of Education has two full time courses in the area of education stream. The programme of study for Bachelor of Education is two years and has approved 100 student enrolment intake. This course is a professional preparation course for students who wish to pursue a teaching profession at the secondary and higher secondary levels. The two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) course also has an intake capacity of 50 students educates teachers for primary and upper primary levels. Both programmes are designed to offer a combination of scholarship knowledge and teaching practice skills in the current context of classrooms. The overall intake of the college equal the number of students it admits in a given year, which represents 229 and is a proof to how the college of education is preferred by many aspiring teachers in the region.

In terms of the admission’s programme, Kullu College of Education has well structured and adopts merit-base system. For B.ED programme, which is the requirement for teachers, admissions are given based on the marks scored in the previous qualifying examination and or an entrance test. It also comprises and included other selection criteria as per this policy of the State Government/UT Administration and the University. Likewise, for D.El.Ed programme admission is made by following the marks obtained in the qualifying examination or entrance test as per the rules and regulations of the State Government or UT administration. This equitable process of admission provides the best bet of selecting deserving students for such central teacher training programmes.
