Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy Mangalore was started in 1993 and is one of the premier colleges to offer physiotherapy courses. This affiliated college at Balmatta, Mangalore, Karnataka has specialisation in offering different courses in the stream of physiotherapy. The college is proud of having a small area of 0.2 acres of campus and a total student population of 450. The faculty includes a total of 14 members, therefore, the students are provided with individual attention with effective education. Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy is a college that offers eight programmes in three levels of study that include bachelors’, masters, and doctoral programmes in physiotherapy.

Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy has put in place unique infrastructure to enhance the learning of students to achieve their potential. The hostels for girls and boys are built in the campus, showing number of facilities like mess, tv watching, reading rooms and security etc. It also has its own library with approximately 3000 books, and subscriptions to professional journals and periodicals. On the health front, students have Medicare facilities in the A. J. Hospital and Research Institute for medical requirements for medical emergencies during study.

Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy conduct variety courses in physiotherapy stream. The institute offers 8 courses comprising of full-time courses, part-time courses and doctorate programmes. The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is the basic course under the bachelor’s programme. At postgraduate level college offers numerous MPT courses like Neurological and Psychosomatic Disorder, Pediatric physiotherapist, Community physiotherapy and community based rehabilitation, Cardio respiratory disorders and intensive care, Musculoskeletal disorder and sports. For those who would wish to venture into research, the college provides full time and part time PhD in Physiotherapy.

Admission committee of Laxmi Memorial College of Physiotherapy with help of admission procedure selects the deserving students for its number of courses. Full time and Part time Applications to the Ph.D. programmes are considered by the Ph.D. Registration Committee of the respective faculty. Those who meet the above criteria are then invited for an interview accompanied by presentation of their Ph.D. protocol. Research proposals and academic background are the two significant criteria on which the committee evaluates the candidates. As a matter of fact, it is expressly prohibited for a Ph.D. student to register for any other course of any stream or a subject or to appear at any other examination during the period of his/her registration for a Ph.D. course without the permission of the respective Ph.D. registration committee.
