Luthra College of Education,jammu was established in 2000, Which is one of the reputed College for teacher education. Based at Talab Tillo, Bohri Jammu this is a co-educational college popularly known for imparting quality education in the teaching profession. Having a pool of 11 committed faculty members of education, the college caters the education needs for several aspiring teachers. At the moment, the college has only one programme, that of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) which is a full time programme that takes two academic years.

At Luthra College of Education, there are facilities that would be of added advantage to the students’ learning. College library as an important learning resource within the College to offer the students, educational material and literature. For those with interest in physical activities, the college provides for the sporting needs in an effort to give the students a balance of the academic and the sporting activity. Over the years, the university-owned auditorium plays host to numerous activities, seminars, conferences, etc, hence the active learning community. Further, the college has put a lot of effort in good IT equipment, so that students are adequately prepared with new technologies in the market.

It’s flagship programme of Luthra College of Education is its Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme. This is a one year academic filler which aims at producing competent tutors through exposing the students to the necessary academic knowledge, skills, and relevant teaching practicum. Though the exact number of total number of seats in the college and number of students graduated in the latest year has not been mentioned, the college is fully committed to maintain high standard of education.

Luthra College of Education follows the merit system for giving admission in its courses, this is due to the fact that the college focuses a lot on education. Measures imply students’ assessment according to the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination in accordance with state government, U.T. Administration and the university policy. This is to make sure that the college admits students who have the ability to become professional teachers when they are training.
