Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering and Technology (MBSCET), Jammu, It has since been recognized as an affiliated institution of Jammu University. It aims to expose students to different engineering programs at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The admission procedure of MBSCET is designed to select highly competent and meritorious candidates for its undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programs. For undergraduate programs, MBSCET has a common admission procedure that is based on the MBS Minority Seats Entrance Test. Candidates for entry into the undergraduate programs of MBSCET are MBS Minority Seats Entrance Test qualified. 

The entrance test forms the prime criteria for admission to various BE (Bachelor of Engineering) programs. The performance of the candidates is tested to measure their aptitude and knowledge in the relevant subjects for making final selection of applicants into the College.  Eligibility criteria for undergraduate programs generally require the completion of 10+2 or an equivalent examination of any recognized board with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as core subjects. Sometimes there are specific percentages required, usually mentioned in the admission notification of the college.

Application Process

The following processes get taken through for the MBSCET admission:

1. Entrance Test Registration: Register online for the MBS Minority Seats Entrance Test by the instructions on the college website or as per the directions by the college.

2. Entrance Test: Appear for the MBS Minority Seats Entrance Test on the date of the test.

3. Results Declaration: Await the declaration of the entrance examination results.

4. Merit List: Based on the merit position in the entrance test, the college will prepare a merit list.

5. Counseling and Seat Allotment: Counseling against qualified candidates where seats will be reserved for them according to their rank and preference.

6. Document Verification: 

• 10th and 12th marksheets and certificates of the qualified candidate.
• Entrance examination scorecard
• Domicile certificate (if required)
• Category certificate (if required)
• Any other documents required by the institute

7. Payment of Fee: After verification, students will be required to pay the fee so as to confirm their admission.

8. Final Admission: Upon successful completion of the above-mentioned processes, confirmation of admission will be issued in the final admission letter.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering): MBSCET offers six streams B.E. programs, which include Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Admission to these programs is based upon the candidate's performance in the MBS Minority Seats Entrance Test; whereas all qualifying postgraduate students are granted admission to M.E. courses on merit and the distribution of seats is based on the rank performance in the Entrance Test.

M.E. (Master of Engineering)- The college offers M.E. courses in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering.The specific admission procedure for these postgraduate courses is not specified; they include considering diversiable amounts of marks from either undergraduate studies or marks from entrance exams. Overall sanctioned number of seats for each M.E. programme is 30.
