In 1948, Maharaja Purna Chandra Autonomous College, Baripada was established. This college is an autonomous college of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Baripada. The college offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses to students who want to pursue. The streams in which the courses are offered are Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and in the branches of Commerce, Computer Sciences, Botany, General Management, Geography, Chemistry and others.  

Maharaja Purna Chandra Autonomous College, Baripada also called as MPC Autonomous College, Baripada. The courses include B.A. (Hons), B.Com.(Hons), B.Sc. (Hons), M.A., M.Sc., M.C.A., M.Com and M.B.A.. Admission to UG and PG courses is based on merit acquired in the qualifying examinations. Eligible students are also offered MPC Autonomous College, Baripada scholarships to pursue further studies at the college.

The college also has a placement cell, which offers its students placement opportunities at undergraduate and postgraduate courses with a good salary package. The institute also facilitates some of the basic amenities, which include a library, sports, an auditorium and many more, which can be availed of by merit students.
