Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT), Takyelpat was set up in 1998 to revolutionize engg education at Imphal, Manipur. It is a government accredited institution affiliated to Manipur University providing courses in under graduation and doctoral level in engineering fields. It is an NBA accredited Institute and AICTE approved institute which is located in Imphal and aims to provide best education in the field of engineering and technology. The institute boasts a sprawling 287-acre campus, accommodating a total enrollment of 617 students, with a student-faculty ratio of approximately 15:1. MIT Imphal has in its portfolio 7 programs across 2 academic programs with major focus of the engineering disciplines such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Electronics and Communication, Computer Science Engineering.

MIT Imphal has placed numbers of facilities for the better learning experience of the students. Clean laboratories with facility for separately funded computer laboratories and computer with state-of-the-art work stations and servers whose LAN is connected to the campus LAN. The institute is well equipped with an adequate number of text and reference books and subscriptions of national and international E – journals like IEEE, ELSEVIER, ASCE etc. These resources are available via Library Internet terminal that is available for use by students. For accommodations, it has separate hostels for boys and girls, girl’s hostel has 50 students on campus MIT imphal and 100 students off campus in M.U.Campus, Canchipur. Other facilities include multi-cuisine buffet, House of Sports, an Event cum Seminar Hall, cabled Network Connectivity, and Health cum First Aid Center respectively.

Altogether, the institute provides 7 courses; it has 5 BE undergraduate courses and 2 doctoral Ph. D. courses. All the undergraduate programmes are direct and take 4 years, while the doctoral programmes run for 6 years. In total, the college has been approved for intake of 150 seats for undergraduate courses where each of the BE programs offer 30 seats. MIT Imphal mainly offers only regular ones, work based courses having no part-time or online courses at the present. In the last academic year, student enrolment in the institute was recorded at 617, across all programs offered.

MIT Imphal offers its undergraduate programs primarily through the JEE Main scores as the primary mode of selecting its students. For the admission to the BE programs, it is mandatory for the students to fulfilled the criteria of ‘valid JEE Main Score’. The institute uses merit of the last qualifying examination for the purpose of admission for any course up to that level at the institute, and a qualifying interview for Ph.D. admissions. The academic timings favor JEE Main exams, and the admission process begins for the next session, 2024-2025. Although the information about the scholarships for the institute is unavailable, as it is a government institute, the institute has to provide different forms of scholarships for the deserving and needy students. MIT Imphal has strength of alumni serving engineering and technological field but due to unavailability of updated data of the institute, it is difficult to mention any name available with the current data.
