Mar Baselios Institute of Technology is a co-educational college started in the year 2003 at Anchal, Kollam, Kerala is known as Mar Baselios Institute of Technology. Importantly, this affiliated college can boast about the accreditation that has received from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), and this simply proves that in this institution students acquire quality education only. MBIT offers only postgraduate programmes and there are two different courses related to Master of Computer Applications (MCA). The MITS institute has 19 fruitful members in the faculty for a devoted environment for training of students. The campus is located in the scenic St. John’s College Campus and incorporates modern communication technology and buildings amidst natural feel to encourage learning.

Currently, Mar Baselios Institute of Technology has numerous facilities within the college to boost the students’ experience and academic performance. In terms of an information centre, the institute boasts of a library that boasts of an assortment of computer related books and publications in form of magazines and journals among others. It became evident that students can get information from various sources such as project reports, seminar papers, and even subject based question papers. This is supported by well-equipped computer laboratories with more than sixty-five nodes, which support both Windows 7 and Linux- Ubuntu operating systems. These labs are supported by other contemporary equipments like ; LCD projectors, Printers, and Scanners; besides other learning resources which a student may require in his or her academic process. The campus boasts a fast 4MBPS internet connection and Wi-Fi connection throughout the college to facilitate computerised facilities and fast access to digital sources.

The institute offers two full-time MCA programmes: a normal three years MCA course and a MCA lateral entry for two-year course. Managed input capacities for each programme are approved for 60 students each, which means that there are many openings for IT students. These are courses aimed at bridging knowledge gaps of students in advanced computer application and enable the students to secure better future in the growing technical world. The curriculum is reviewed periodically to capture new trends in the computer and information technology industry as well as new technologies that confront industry to ensure that MBIT graduates are well equipped to handle what the market has to offer.

The procedure for entering MBIT is rather simple, and we admit only qualified students. The students who wish to apply for the admission in either of the MCA programmes have to take the Government of Kerala MCA Entrance Examination. This exam guarantees that qualified candidates only be hired to keep the academic standards of this institute. 

From the above array of extracurricular facilities it is clear that holistic development is well tackled within MBIT institutions. The institute has separate hostels for the boys and girl so that the students coming from other city or state feel comfortable to stay at the hostel facility. First aid provision that can be availed in case of onset of illnesses is provided with the facility of a health centre. Besides, recreational interest, MBIT offers indoor and outdoor sports amenities for those who love sports and fitness such as badminton courts and basketball courts. All these amenities that are provided not only enhance the health of the students but also enhances student teamwork and leadership. Academic conferences include seminars and debates, cultural extravaganzas and pre-placement discussions, and recruiting exercises help the presence of an auditorium and seminar halls.
