Mar Severios College of Teacher Education was established in 1995 in Pathanamthitta, Kerala. This affiliated college is also recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and provides programmes in education only. The location of an institute is on a 16.46 acre and it has 49 students with 11 members of faculty. Mar Severios College provides two full-time degree programmes, B.Ed and M.Ed both has 50 seats respectively. The college promotes co education and to prepare future educators for current teaching environment at college level.

The institute has several amenities aimed at increasing effectiveness of education delivery among the learners. The computerised library is an essential source of knowledge which contains books, journals, encyclopaedias and other related electronic databases. Mar Severios College of Teacher Education has a girls’ hostel of 40 rooms in college annex run by two Sisters of Bethany who take personal care to give a homely environment to the girls of college. There is an opportunity for students to access sports facilities in order to be physically fit other than just being academically challenged. The college in particular has modern computer laboratory where the students are trained on different computer applications and Internet skills, which is can support the college’s information technology. In addition, there are experimental psychology lab, physical and natural sciences, and languages laboratories because the campus practical orientation is highly valued.

Mar Severios College of Teacher Education offers a focused curriculum with two courses, B.Ed and M.Ed. Each of them is full-length, taking two years of study to complete the degree. Thus, the total seating position for each of the course is fifty thereby giving a total student enrolment to the programmes as one hundred. These course offer educationist trainings for teaching and management careers while offering theoretical knowledge inculcated with practical competences that are required in contemporary teaching profession.

The entry requirements of the Mar Severios College of Teacher Education include marks obtained in the qualifying or entrance tests. The college is committed to the admissions policies as recommended by the State Government of Kerala and affiliated University.
