The proposed institute, namely Meera Medical Institute of Nursing and Hospital Abohar, started in 2008 and is regarded as one of the leading institutes in society providing nursing education in Punjab, India. This affiliated college, approved by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), provides basic B.Sc., Post-Basic, and M.Sc. nursing courses on its 3 acres of land. maximum strength of 480 students and 11 faculty members make the environment more personalised for the learners aspiring to be healthcare professionals. Four full and specialisation nursing courses are taught at the institute: two degree and two diploma courses for learners seeking different levels of nursing training.

The total number of seats approved is 210 and is divided among various courses offered by the institute. Lacking specific graduation data, the overall enrolment of the institute correlates with its intake capacity, which means the institute boasts a very low dropout rate.

It is to state that Meera Medical Institute of Nursing and Hospital has different admission procedures for different courses. For the ANM and GNM programmes, the method of intake is as per merit obtained in the qualifying examination. The B.Sc. Nursing and Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing programmes have a slightly more formal structure as compared to the above-mentioned. These courses are following the Punjab Government notification, and it has entrance tests for the admissions into these courses. 

The B.Sc. Nursing programme has adopted the Punjab Para Medical Entrance Test (PPMET), whereas the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing programme has adopted the Punjab Para Medical Entrance Test (PPBNET). These two entrance exams are conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences and are conducted on behalf of Dr. Harisingh Gour University Sagar and Jiwaji University Gwalior. This kind of screening maintains the quality of students enroled in the institute as well as helps the institute to enrol students with the right calibre for nursing.
