Merchant Engineering College is found in Basna, Gujarat. It was established in the year 2009. This college is AICTE-approved and provides various courses in engineering. It occupies 10.39 acres and accommodates 871 students and 157 faculty members. It offers courses at degree levels: BE, ME, and Diploma, amounting to 20 courses. Some of the areas for majoring in include Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Civil, and Automobile Engineering. 

Merchant Engineering College intends to provide students with world-class infrastructures that improve their learning experience. It have laboratories equipped with all the required equipment, both in and out of class hours for experiments and research purposes. IT setup includes a computer centre with 60 networked computers along with high-speed internet. The library contains over 8,800 books, 33 international journals, and 57 national journals along with all the e-journals like IEEE, J-GATE, and LNET. Indoor and outdoor campus sports facilities, including cricket ground, football ground, volleyball court, badminton courts, etc.

The college offers 20 courses of which 6 are BE programmes, 9 ME programmes and 5 Diploma programmes. At present, part-time/online programme not available.

MEC follows centralised admission procedures for Engineering Courses admitting at Govt. of Gujarati constituency. Admissions in BE programmes are strictly merit-based. Scores in the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination, combined with marks in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics (Total 300 marks), make up the admission score. For several courses, MEC also accepts scores from the Gujarat Common Entrance Test, popularly known as GUJCET. Regularly, the dates coincide with the state schedule for Engineering Entrance admissions.
