About WPU School of Liberal Arts, Pune

MIT WPU School of Liberal Arts Pune is a member college of MIT-World Peace University in Kothrud, Pune, Maharashtra. The institute provides numerous undergraduate programmes in liberal arts for students who chose humanities and social science. At present, the school is populated with a faculty of only 22 members, so the student is assured of focused individual attention from the institution. Currently, the institute provides 9 full-time programmes, namely. Bachelor of Liberal Arts, Bachelor of Psychology (Honour), Bachelor of Arts in English (Honour), Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Honour), in total 210 seats are there for all the nine honours programmes. 

MIT WPU School of Liberal Arts offers a number of amenities to aid the students’ learning. The centre has a functional library that enables student’s access to a number of academic resources. In terms of extracurricular learning, the college utilises sports facilities and a gymnastics hall to help the students gain physical fitness. It also has an auditorium for going-places, occasions, and business seminars to ensure the campus is active and lively at the institute. Advanced towers, infrastructure of IT, and Wi-Fi provision provide students with proper technology requirements for their learning. The college has provided its own hostel for boys and girls separately to accommodate outstation students comfortably. There is a cafeteria for students and staff and resultantly well-equipped specific laboratories for the specific subjects and research. 

MIT WPU School of Liberal Arts currently has nine programmes and all the programmes are full-time. Some of the degrees offered by this university are MA Peace and Conflict Management, MA Psychology (Hons), MA English (Hons), Ph.D in Sociology, and Ph.D. English. WPU School of Liberal Arts, Pune, is one of the constituent colleges, providing undergraduate and postgraduate programs in liberal arts, humanities, and social sciences. The admission procedure at WPU School of Liberal Arts is tailored to choose promising and enthusiastic students with a deep interest in the said disciplines. Most of the courses at the institute follow merit-based admission criteria, with special selection criteria for some courses.

The admission cycle for WPU School of Liberal Arts usually starts in the months leading up to the start of the academic year. Though the exact dates may vary.

For undergraduate courses, the eligibility criterion is that the candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board. The institute offers 210 seats under its four undergraduate honors programs. Postgraduate and doctoral programs are offered with different eligibility criteria as per the discipline chosen.

Undergraduate programs for (BA Liberal Arts, BA Psychology, BA English, BA Political Science)

2. Fill the online application form depending on the program applied for.

3. Application fee: fees vary please refer to website for appropriate fees for this time.

4. Submit 10th as well as 12th mark sheets".

  • School leaving certificate
  • Statement of Purpose (500 words for most programs)
  • Any other documents mentioned in the application guidelines

5. For BA Liberal Arts, prepare for Group Discussion round

6. Await shortlist release and subsequent information

For MA English, MA Psychology, and MA Peace and Conflict Management Postgraduate Programs

  1. Registration for the MIT-WPU CET PI 2025
  2. Appearance at the entrance exam on the respective date.
  3. If shortlisted, appear for the Personal Interaction round.
  4. Submit all documents required:
  • Graduation mark sheets and degree certificate
  • Entrance test score card
  • Other documents specified by the institute

For Ph.D. Programs

1. Appear for the MITWPU Ph.D. entrance test, if not exempted.

2. Qualify for the entrance test with a required score.

3. If shortlisted, appear for an interview/viva-voce.

4. Submit necessary documents, which include:

  • Master's degree certificates and mark sheets
  • Research proposal
  • Publications (if any)
  • NOC from the employer (If the applicant is employed)
  • All other documents needed by the University

Degree wise Admission Process

BA Liberal Arts: The intake is 30 seats. The selection process is based on a Statement of Purpose (SOP) and a Group Discussion. Candidates are evaluated on their writing skills, critical thinking abilities, and overall aptitude for liberal arts education.

BA Psychology (Hons): With 60 seats, this program is available to candidates who have scored marks in their 12th aggregate and a 500-word Statement of Purpose. The SOP enables students to convey their interest and understanding of the field of psychology.

BA English (Hons): The course also offers 60 seats. The admission process is also the same as that of the BA Psychology program, with regard to the aggregate marks of the 12th standard and a 500-word Statement of Purpose based on the candidate's interest in English literature and language studies.

BA Political Science (Hons): 60 seats, follows the admission procedure as BA English and BA Psychology. It takes into consideration candidates based on 12th aggregate marks and a 500-word Statement of Purpose on the topic related to political science.

MA English and MA Psychology : These postgraduate programs use the score of MIT-WPU CET PI 2025 for selection. In the personal interaction round, the respondent's general awareness about the subject and his or her interest in the domain is examined.

MA Peace and Conflict Management: The selection is also done through the score of the MIT-WPU CET PI 2025; however, the candidate's general subject awareness and interest would also be dealt with in the personal interaction round.

Ph.D. Programs (English and Sociology): The admission process for doctoral programs involves several steps:

  1. Candidates must appear for the Ph.D. entrance test conducted by MITWPU, unless exempted by qualifying national tests like UGC-NET, GATE, etc.
  2. The entrance test has a qualifying score of 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS candidates).
  3. Qualified candidates undergo an interview/viva-voce.
  4. Selection is based on a 70% weightage to the entrance test and 30% to the interview performance.
  5. Provisional admission is offered to selected candidates.
