Model Government Degree College, Charar-i-Sharief, was set up in the year 2011 offering higher education in a scenic place of Jammu and Kashmir. This affiliated college is in the town of Charar-i-Sharief that has been giving the shape to young minds for more than a decade. It is a governmental institution, which occupies a vast territory of 9.737 acres and it proves the government’s concern with quality education in rural territories. This college has 760 students in total and 19 members of the faculty which provide the students with individual approach. The institution proudly possesses accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) lays on the foundation of it and works hard to sustain the qualities which make the institution admirable.

Model Government Degree College has many amenities that seeks to improve learning experience of the students enrolled in the college. Inside the geographical centre of the institution stands the Ameer-i-Kabeer Library which boasts of having approximately 11,700 books in its collection on different courses offered within the institution. With its operation since 2017, it provides various books in English, Urdu, Arabic with other subjects useful for education of more than thousand students. It also offers reprographic services. The amenities, common to the college, include aptly fitted laboratories, a computerised IT section and compartmentalised sports and physical facilities. Comfortable accommodations for the students are provided through cafeteria service, a health centre coupled with a first aid facility and separate hostels for boys and girls for the students particularly those coming from distant places.

The institution offers and awards its students with degrees in arts (BA), commerce (B.Com), computer applications (BCA), Science (B.Sc) and Business administration (BBA).
