The admission process in NISM is tight and varies for various courses. For the two-year PGDM in Securities Markets, the performance of the candidate is judged through any one of the six all-India Common Admission Tests conducted. This includes CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, MAT, GMAT, or MH-CET. Selection for the one-year PG Diploma in Data Science for Financial Markets is carried out differently; a candidate is selected based on his profile and performance in an online personal interview.  The institution's commitment toward the nurturing of talent in the security market is further reconfirmed with the approval from Bar Council of India, underlining its program credibility.
