Nehru Institute of Management Studies, Coimbatore: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

Nehru Institute of Management Studies (NIMS), the affiliated college started in 2008, is at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. This vast learning institute is located at a beautiful place of Thirumalayampalayam- Nehru gardens and this institute occupied only 2.5 acres of land. NIMS provide a unique educational experience with one and only MBA programme to its 71 postgraduate students aspiring for senior managerial positions. It sustains a close-knit teaching-learning ambiance with a strength of 7 faculty members that allows each student to remain under the able mentorship of an instructor.

NIMS boasts in having provided varieties of facilities that supplement students’ learning experience. The campus as also has a separate hostel facilities for boys and girls outstation students to provide a home like atmosphere. Social needs are met with the provision of First Aid Health Services through the health center while recreation and sports needs are met with the well equipped gym. For learning activities, the college has a vast library facility and computerization of records. 

Other facilities for students include the provision of sports facility and a cafeteria for students to socialize. This institution has an auditorium for occasions for example gatherings and seminars, which makes the campus lively. Also, for practical purposes, NIMS has established special laboratories for carrying out practical lessons in several management disciplines.

The MBA program implemented by the institute is specifically channeled to develop students in the ever changing environment of business management. This is a full-time course that takes two years and it is the flagship of the total academic programmes offered by the NIMS with the admission calendar being a full academic year to absorb all the seventy-one students. The structure of the program serves a purpose of giving a working knowledge of business management and leadership and strategic planning. Further, it is not possible to determine specifics of MBA specialization; however, the general areas the MBA degree encompasses include marketing, finance, human resource and operational management.

Currently the major mode/ entry point to join NIMS is through the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET). This test is a state level exam and it is final examination for MBA courses where the interested candidates need to get in to the institute. The university acknowledges TANCET scores that show their ability in finding students who have a good background in academics and one who desires to study management. The current clearing students are encouraged to ensure that they follow the TANCET exam dates to the later. Unfortunately, information concerning scholarships at KSE is hard to come by though students are advised to contact the institute management to ask if there are any funds available for any course.
