NG College Imphal which was set up in 1970 is a co-educational affiliated college at Lamphelpat Imphal Manipur. It is a private institute situated in a campus of 6.4 acre and is NAAC accredited. The NG College has a strength of 968 students and 36 faculties, and it has 10 under graduation courses in 2 different degree courses. The college boasts a diverse student body with a 53:in the male to female ratio of 47:1 and a 99% in-state enrolment. A college particularly well known for its arts and humanities education, the college also offers specific honours in Political Science, Philosophy, Mathematics and Manipuri.

NG College boast of various amenities that it has put in place in order to facilitate learning of its student. Well equipped with books and INFLIBNET facility it has a good collection of Books and Rare publications Text and Reference books. Newspapers, journals and periodicals are available in the separate reading room. This is further supported by the college’s involvement in technology wherein it can boast of more or less 25 computer sets, 4 printers together with 3 LCD projectors. ICT therefore and Wi-Fi internet facilities are part of the learning resources that students gain from in their learning environment throughout the campus. The college has accommodation facilities for students where female students can contain 50 of them in hostel facilities. Other numbers include departmental laboratories, a swimming pool and other athletic facilities to enhance the well-rounded learning spaces offered at the campus.

In total, NG College, Imphal provides its students with 10 courses of the undergraduate studying only full-time option. The college offers courses leading to the award of Bachelor of Arts (BA) with different honours- History hons, Manipuri hons, Education hons, Mathematics hons and Geography hons etc. Although maximum and minimum student capacity of each individual course is not elaborated, the total number of students enroled is 968. The college aims at training human capital in humanities and social sciences to enable fulfilments of thirty nine courses relevant to the learners’ academic needs and aspirations in the region.

Regarding the admission process NG College, Imphal is basically user-friendly and very much open to all. The college mainly enrols students within the state, and in fact 99 percent of the students come from the state of Manipur. This is evidenced in the achievement of the institution to offer higher education in the provision of opportunity to the community.

Scholarships are also available for deserving student from NG College as well. For newbie students in the academic year 2021, college offered approximately 15 students reimbursement/ scholarship proving college’s vision of being an institution that provides equal opportunity for everyone to pursue education. Alumni of the college are not profiled but the college does register an alumni association that assist the institution through various developmental roles performed by the passed up students.

NG College being one of the known institutions of Imphal has a great responsibility of fulfilling the demand of higher education in Manipur.
