Nityananda College of Pharmacy, Balasore, was established in the year 2019 and it’s one of the new generation college which aims to serve the better future of pharma education in Odisha, India. Situated inSergarh, Balasore on NH-16, this affiliated college has been emerged as the promising college for carrying out pharmacy courses. The institute is affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi that meets the standard quality of all its colleges. Located in a campus of 0.8264 acres, the college trains 160 students in two distinct sectors of pharmacy. The institute comprises of 26 members of faculty and that way has an excellent students’ teacher ratio which enhances learning.
The feature of Nityananda College of Pharmacy is availability of all necessary facilities for effective learning process in a modern environment. The college library prescribed as a major source of learning resources has a collection of 1,824 books including 336 titles on pharmaceutical sciences and allied subjects. It provides a favourable environment of reading and research with good lighting and easy flow of current heavy subscription e-journal through Delnet. The institution boasts of well-equipped laboratories, which allows the learner gain as much practical experience as is required in their programmes. In order to develop IT facilities to meet modern developments, the college boasts of a strong infrastructure with internet connection across the college. For students, there are hostel facilities for boys and girls to make sure that the students finds a stay at a reasonable charges. The college also offers the transport facilities in which buses are available from different parts of the Balasore district for the ease of students and staffs. Other facilities include air conditioned teaching facilities, a dining hall, a cafeteria and an open air cafeteria and sports complex to support a balance lifestyle.
At the present time, the college teaches two full- time courses in the area of pharmacy. These include, Diploma in Pharmacy which takes two years to complete – D.Pharma and the four year Bachelor of Pharmacy programme – B.Pharma. The D.Pharma course itself intakes 60 students While the course of B.Pharma has the intake capacity of 100 so the combined total intake capacity is 160 students. This strategy also prevents the institution from offering lower standards of education across general disciplines.
Nityananda College of Pharmacy takes admission mostly through entrance tests. For the B.Pharma programme, the admission are made by the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE), Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) Main, or the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) and counselling. It also provides Management and NRI quota seats admission which is conducted as per the direction of government of India. The academic year is also as per the Semester System of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) where the most classes for the first semester start in the month of August. Since its establishment, Nityananda College of Pharmacy is continuously carving a niche for itself in the field of pharmacy education and training and wagering for quality education and training to mark its students for the definite success in the field of pharmaceutical industry.
