NKT National College of Education for Women, Chennai which started in 1966 is also an autonomous college for women specialising in teacher education. This is a self financing college located in Triplicane, Chennai, operating on 3.06 acres area, approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Out of 6 courses, the college teaches five degree programmes related to education in different perspectives. The institute offers a specialised all-female learning with a total student intake of 405 admitted student. This is with a view to producing quality individuals with professionalism in education hence the various courses offered in the college are B.Ed, M.Ed, M.Phil and Ph.D in Education, B.Ed Special in Special Education for the visually impaired.

NKT National College of Education for Women possesses a set of number of facilities. Its functions include dealing with books, journals as well as other online sources, including those used in competitive examinations. Two large halls namely Sudersanam Iyengar Hall and Sarojini Varadappan Hall each with a seating of 400 students and a fully air-conditioned seminar hall are utilised for many academic and co-curricular activities. The campus has college-standard laboratories supported by modern teaching aids including LCD projectors, OHPs and learning teaching aids for the course. Thorough networking has been implemented within the college through implementation of LAN connectivity in the entire college with a computerised lab and Micro Computer Centre, has been established as a knowledge centre for government promoted Microsoft and Intel IT training.

NKT National College of Education for Women host a total of 6 programmes, these are 5 full time and 1 part time programmes. From degree level courses at the institute, an individual can pursue up to a doctoral level in education. The total approved intake of all courses is three hundred and twenty-five unless for the Ph.D programme. The college provides B.Ed, M.Ed, M.Phil in Education both Regular/Supernumerary, B.Ed in Special Education for Visually Handicapped, and Ph.D in Education.

The admission procedure of NKT National College of Education for Women has marks obtained in the qualifying and/or entrance examinations in consideration, as per the policies of the state government, UT administration and the university norms. Special Education in Visual Impairment B.Ed programme and other affiliated programmes admit students based on their performance in qualifying examination/entrance test. The selection process for the M.Ed programme is also the same as above, with additional consideration being made for any other requirements formulated by government or university.
